Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 3:02 pm

I have been stuck on this quest for weeks now. I have got everything set up to go but i can't seem to focus the oculary, i have both the fire and ice spells one on each hand, i have tried to shot fire at the lenses then ice then both at the same time but no matter what i do the beams stay where they are on the celing i don't know what to do i'm an inch away from flying into an almighty rage at this please for the love of skyrim help me. Thanks.

Have you walked over to the control panel? If not, explore the upper level of the room.

Yes i have tried moving the panels on the celing they work fine, it's the beams that are the problem. one is on the celing next to the masive blue lens letting the light in and the other 2 are on the first band at the top of the celing. i cant get them to [censored] fo their respective bands.

Did you try using frost and flame spells on them? Frost makes it go down while flame makes it go up.

this part is rather annoying, on my first playthrough i got it quite easily (by luck); wasnt so lucky with my 2nd one though, i just randomly spammed fire and frost spells, and i got it (by luck again, although it took way longer).

I had a bug on this where the beams were invisible due to my graphics card. Basically you can move the lenses into the correct position on the ceiling (available from screenshots if you search in google), then just use the ice spell until you get the quest completed message. It's worked on two characters for me now, without being able to see the light beams.

Aim at the lenses in the arch, I don't think it needs to be precise. If the beams don't move, shoot the opposite spell (ie flames). It moves in 3 or 4 steps in either direction, iirc, so it will stop when it reaches max in either direction.

This is a harder puzzle than snake/fish/bird, thank gawd. I was happy to be challenged for once.

I just did this part last night. My experience:

Spoiler
If the beams are not moving when you shoot the lenses where you inserted the rune or whatever, then the oculory is focused. there is a ramp that leads up a little above the huge blue orb. There are three buttons up there that rotate the ceiling to align the beams with the reflectors.

All the other puzzles in the game are not designed to be difficult for us, but for creatures like drauger and the like so they cannot escape the tombs and stuff. This puzzle was a bit harder than those fore sure.
