Ring Question?

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 1:58 pm

Hey, all:)

A silly question probably, but is it possible to equip more than one ring at a time?

I am starting out my character, and I found a second ring that helps my character. But I can only seem to wear one ring at a time.

Thks for any input:)

I don't think it is, unfortunately.

8 fingers, 2 thumbs....only one ring. Sad, but true.

One of the dumbest design decisions ever.

Not really if you consider how many enchantments that could lead to.
Still, I don't know why you can't at least wear two like TES4...

Hardly. It's a balancing thing, to stop you having ten enchantments just on your hands. There are plenty of dumber design decisions than this.

That's why you balance enchanting better?

I've not really dabbled in enchanting at all so don't know it well enough to comment. Just pointing out that being unable to wear a ring on each of your fingers hardly ruins the game.

Where did I say it ruined the game?

I said it was a dumb design decision.

Still don't think that would work, because Enchanting would basically have to be terrible to stop you having 10 enchantments just on your fingers that make you OP. Then you get people complaining that Enchanting is bad, why can you wear so many rings... Etc.

You wouldn't have to make Enchanting terrible at all.

You could simply prevent Enchantments from stacking. I.e. couldn't have all 10 rings give 10% Magika reduction.
You could simply cap stacking at a certain point, i.e. you can't get higher than 50%.
You could simply make it so that rings could only carry certain enchantments.
Etc.

And then people complain that Enchanting is useless because you can't keep stacking enchantments. You have to accept that they have balanced the game as best they can. If you play on PC, just be glad it has the potential to be changed. If not, well, I've said what I can.

Except they haven't balanced the game as best they can because people can exploit Enchanting and Smithing as it is.

Not being able to stack enchantments to 100% does not in any way, shape, or form make Enchanting useless.

Right... because being able to stack up to 99% would make all of enchanting useless.

What? That's not the point I was making at all. All I'm saying is that they have balanced the game as best they can as they see fit, and it's better just to deal with it.

Or... it's better to voice your opinion so that they might review their game design and potentially make it better.

Let's keep it civil.

You'd rather have the ability to wear ten rings, and Penderghast's opinion (an opinion I share) is that the current system is acceptable. There's nothing more to it. Let's all just agree to co-exist peacefully with our varied opinions over such a trivial detail in a video game.
