the house Vindel hall (Markarth city) is my home, its my all time favorite

tried all the rest and i did not get that home-y feeling to them.

Same. I own all the homes but that one is my favorite. The layout, the architecture, and the view.

Before I ever delved into Skyrim I had read that the game let's your play decide what you're good at. That means that if you pickpocket all the time (like I do) then you'll become expert at it. Indeed I had my pickpocket skill up to 100 VERY quickly. And from the beginning I have been playing with the warrior stone blessing, because I'm more concentrating on thieving and smithing and so I figured if I needed help it would be in the realm of my warrior status. I have pretty good one handed combat skills but I have not invested the perks to back it up at this point. But I keep well stocked with health potions and almost all of my magic use has been in the restoration path, and even though I'm a thief I love heavy armor (cuz i'm a black smith).. So, you may hear me sneaking around but thanks to my armor I can take a pretty good beating.
Yes but there are more smithing options for light armor. as for deadric when you reach 46-48 you'll start finding it as well as Dragonplate. I would suggest waiting for that because.. well i dont know about you but i love finding new things and if you make dragon and deadric stuff at a lower level then you wont find much better and the thrill of adventure dims. My Khajiit wears hide armor
i think it matches him the best being that the Khajiit and argonians have now races specific armor.

Hmmm.. I will have to do some soul searching. My Imperial looks great in his flawless steel plate armor set enchanted for carry limit and heavy armor optimization. But, since I only recently became capable of glass armor smithing I haven't developed my smithing capabilities well enough to explore the light armor options. I spent all this time getting to a point where I quite literally am a man of steel. I have an armor rating (with Steel plate armor) of about 210. Does any have any good tales of ridiculously good armor rating?

I completely missed the secret basemant in Anise's cabin my first time through that area. It wasn't until I came back later on that I realized my mistake.

I like smaller houses, not mansions, so Whiterun was my favorite.

I haven't bought one yet... I just finished the College Quest and got the Arch Mage's Quarters. LOVE IT!! This place has everyhting I need I will suit my Wood Elf ArcherThiefMage just fine as he runs the College of Winterhold while sneaking away to Riften to pursue his new career with the Thieves Guild! I do love Solitude especially at night and will eventually have that home.... just need to keep saving Gold!

You guys should check out the mod - Dovahkiin's hideout...it is a basemant that joins all of the houses - very cool.

Actual keys / ownership is required to gain access.

If the stuff actually stayed where I put it, I could actually maniputlate items better and I could do more things im my home...I would do more in it.

All I have to say in regards to homes. I spend just enough time in them to store my stuff. Tried decorating twice and each time I have come back I'm greeted by an explosion on colliding items. Can't put anything on shelves without it being on the floor when I come back home. The only exception I've fond is a few of the night stands.

That place is probably the most convenient. You can fast travel to the door. The storage can reset. Even then, the Alch sach still had my ingredients. I drag the 5 bodies from the Talos shrine over to use as containers. In two playthroughs to level 60, they reset once. They just spawned back at the shrine, still loaded with all my stuff. By that time I had Dead Thrall, so they were easily relocated back to the shack.

My favorite home is in Whiterun as well, although Belthor died from an unknown cause, I need to go to a far away shop to sell items...

But I like the community, it's friendly and safe, unlike Riften where it's home to the Thiefs.

If you invest in the warmaiden, that smithy right beside breezehome, you can sell anything to the guy or the chick and i find that they are best cuz theyre almost always around and right beside ur house in case ur overencumbered

I spend a good deal of time honing my smithing skills but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on quick ways to improve one's skills in this regard? I'm at 100 in pickpocketing and 70 in smithing. The funny (or perhaps sad) thing is that I've only mined one mine so far (the one by the black-briar lodge. I suppose my next personal quest will be to explore and mine the many other Skyrim mines.

go get yourself a bunch of iron ingots and leather strips, as many as u can find. Best way is to mine the ore and kill the animals, but if youve got a fair bit of money to waste, warmaidens sells them. make as many iron daggers as u can, it will level up ur smithing relatively fast, took me about an hour or so to get to 100. Then as a bonus u can get some soul gems(any size) and enchant all those daggers with anything u want and sell them for some awesome easy money.

My last char had his loot in Breezehome. Literally hundreds of loots like Dragon Priest Masks and flawless gems and what have you
And lately, he moved the valuable gems to Solitude. There's a safe there, so it's safer

My current char puts all the stuff in Honeyside. Because I don't want to fight dragons
