Do the music files come with a Skyrim PC install?

I'm curious if the soundtrack files come with a Skyrim PC install, the same way they did with Morrowind or Oblivion.

No, they are packed away in one of the archives in xWMA format, which are unplayable as-is.

Thanks.

Damn, that svcks. I'm really not trying to pay over $200 for the CD soundtrack. I was hoping they'd come on the install like Morrowind or Oblivion, so there'd be a legitimate way of getting it.

You could convert them, but that requires you download the DirextX9 SDK, and that's a pretty huge download.

Personally, I'm waiting for someone to come out with a third-party xWMA converter. 500Mb just to convert a couple audio files is not worth my time.

Why do people keep thinking the soundtrack costs $150-$200? http://www.directsong.com/mobile/productdetails.php?productid=2240

Thank you for that link.

When I searched for it on Amazon, it was listed at $239.99

The music in the PC version is fully available. They're packed in a BSA, but they're very simple to extract. They're compressed into the .xwm format, which certain players (like VLC) should be able to play as-is, or you can convert them with something like the linked tool.
