Skyrim Mountain Climbing Club

With such a vast World to explore... is anyone else like myself in this game, always climbing mountains...going on paths less tread- if ever tread? Ignoring the common paths and blazing new trails and routes to their destinations?

My Dark Elf is the Queen of Thieves Guild now, and in the midst of contracting for the Dark Brotherhood. Being a Thief/Assassin calls for certain tactics in the pursuit of the goal. Often... instead of just going full head on inward by sneaking and such... my Dark Elf bounds up the side of a mountain and sets roost in a formidable perch of raining death.
Other times, it is just to see if she can make it by 'climbing' up the mountain side.

I have seen and been to places on Skyrim Mountain ranges that few may have been too.... if just for inability to get there from the appearance of it. How do you do this? Simple. Just keep walking up... jumping- pressing triangle 'jump' constantly... jumping and moving at the same time to find the sweet spot on the curve of a rock or mountain side that lets you bound even further up. Continuing to do this until you are surprisingly near or at the top or the precipice of the mountain...or the part of the mountain you are attempting.

Anyone else a constant mountain climber....? Whether for the unique access or just the love of trying to get there?

I have been an avid mountain climber since Morrowind(including Fallout 3 & NV)! Nothing wrong with making your own path to success in these games. In fact, I was sorely disappointed when I found so many invisible walls in the fallout games(especially in NV).

I do climb the sides of mountains/hills often if I see my destination right in front of me but don't want to go a mile out of the way to find the path leading to it. On the way down, I'll usually take the path, because I'm curious as to where it was.

I often avoid the roads because I've always like the road less traveled

Nope. On PS3 as well here. And just have always been playing the deftly footed Elf I guess.... just seeking alternative routes to flank and surprise the enemy.
Have been up the sides of the Druadach Mountain range...to places where it finally tells you 'You cannot go this way', and doesnt allow you to go further....to the mountain ranges of Hjaalmarch, Winterhold and more. Even up the face of the mountain of where the Greybeards are... and talking about when you look down... it seems like you would surely slide down to your death or be incapable of going that way (though there are sometimes when you just can't).

Yup. It's pretty easy to discover the tricks that allow you to scale a mountainside. Skyrim mixes things up over Oblivion by including lots of new props, like overhangs or even sheer cliffs, but that just adds to the fun. :)

I find myself climbing out of necessity. The map shows where my target is, but not where the paths are. So rather than wander aimlessly around a mountain looking for the track up, I often walk/run/bunnyhop as high as I can, then start looking for a way down to my destination. And obviously I did The Throat "because it's there".

My goal is to climb every top in skyrim. It's anoying though, every time I climb one I see a top that's even higher, often miles away and I gotta climb that one as well. And the swandives you can make into waters below...beautiful

If you climb the right mountain you get the billy-goat mount that has the best climbing ability.

Nothing beats backstabbing a dragon after you've climbed up the "impossible" mountain behind him then jumped onto his back.

I do tend to spend ages though climbing a rockface, only to discover at the top there was a perfectly serviceable path that I could have run up in seconds. Mind you, I used to do that same thing with real mountains...

I climb mountains all the time in skyrim, mainly cause I'm too lazy to run 3 miles away to the slow, gradual path up the slope.

I use a Bow, but this is something to have achieved.

Mountain climbing challenge.

I have been up on the path above High Rothgar before I was supposed to be able to get there. It was a fairly epic climb and I even got

across the bridge
. I could not pass the last one but still I was pleased to have made it up there.
