Any fix for horse witnesses?

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 2:01 am

Hi,

As an assassin murderer type it is very hard to travel by horse and kill people. Ive tried a few times and it seems if my horse is in the same cell as me he will be a whitness no matter what, whether he sees me or not. Also, I always get the prompt all witnesses are dead and I have no bounty, I look and I physically have no bounty. But if I go near guards they attack me, I have no bounty and I cannot yield. They persue me forever...

Anyone have a fix? seen any mods? know any console commands to help?

thanks! hopefully beth will patch but I doubt it.

Just kill the horse. It like burning up the car used in robbery.

I once had to chase a horse halfway across Skyrim to kill it to get my 'last witness' to a Thalmor massacre. Once also I was foiled in robbing an outdoor blacksmith by a chicken. Yet another time, a sheep reported me for killing a nearby chicken.

This is wrong no matter how you look at it! I mean, unless horses, sheep and chickens are like mice from Hitchhiker's Guide and are secretly the most intelligent things on the planet, of course.

Kill the Horse Whisperer, and then maybe the horses will stop telling people about your evil deeds. *nod*

No joke, the only witness to a DB murder I commited was a mudcrab... the same mudcrab that happened to pop up right before the assassination and blow my cover. Damn mudcrabs...

There certainly seems something not quite right with how witnesses work. Even when no other living creature is around, anywhere in sight.

I robbed Arcadia's.
Arcadia sent thugs to "teach me a lesson."
I killed the thugs and found the note.
I went to Arcadia's shop and killed her for sending thugs after me.

Not a soul in sight, no other creatures, not even a single plant item on a shelf anywhere (since I had stolen them all). She's dead, and half a dozen guards burst through the door and arrest me.

Then again, Arcadia's may be glitched in other ways. I mean, the entire time I was robbing her, she was sound asleep in her bed, my stealth indicator claimed I was "hidden" and she's chatting me up as though she was standing behind her counter. "Oh, you don't look so good." "Hmm, that may be ataxia." "Let me know if you need anything."

I've had something similar happen, though with a different NPC. Can't remember for sure, but I think it was the spiced wine merchant in Solitude. I snuck into this someone's house, hidden the whole time. I'm 100% sure nobody spotted me. Despite that, I heard a faint voice shouting "you need to leave!". The stealth indicator kept showing me as being hidden, and the shouting continued, so I followed the voice. What I found was this woman laying in her bed, seemingly sleeping, while repeating "You need to leave!", "You aren't supposed to be here!". She didn't spot me however, being asleep and all, so I just carried on liberating the house from everything valuable. I didn't get any thugs after me after that, so the quest engine apparently didn't think she spotted me either.

Also the chicken witnesses as well

I was going through Riverwood at night one time, and for no particular reason, pulled out my bow and fired an arrow at a chicken.
Got the message that 40 gold bounty was added. So I thought "Oh crap thats a crime? And somebody saw it!" A second later I got the the message "Last witness eliminated. Bounty removed." The chicken reported its own murder.
