Holy hell, very interesting few minutes :0

First of all, I'd like to point out that I am using Wars in Skyrim 4 (dark rainbow version).
Sorry consolers, but the following is only likely to happen on PC.

Anyway, I was hunting elk with Vigilance in the tundra west of whiterun (my usual hunting grounds), the reason I love hunting with Vigilance is because I can fire an arrow at an elk causing it to be near death, but once it's on the run, it's a bit harder to land a hit, so vigilance helps out by chasing it down and just dropping the rest of it's health in one attack, good boy.

Anyway, I was hunting, found a nice little location not marked on the map with a shrine to Zenithar IIRC. Anyway, spotted a giant and 2 mammoths in the distance, headed over to them to see what was going on, they suddenly attacked for no reason that I could tell, I tried to stand my ground but I knew that I was going down, so I broke off fighting and started to run away, like the big sissy I am. Once I got a nice amount of health regenerated I turned to fight again, the mammoths weren't at all far behind, but the Giant was (at the moment) not in view anywhere, so I was fighting the mammoths, one went down quite swiftly, then halfway through slaying the next, a damn moron runs up to me and says "hold onto this for me", Yeah sure pal, I just pressed B to close the dialog box before I took too much damage, then I got hit from behind by a TON of lightning, nearly killed me from basically full health. Holy crap did I jump.

Backed off from the mammoth and turned to see who dare'd test me, well, it was 3 Thalmor Justiciars, as I turned I also noticed the aforementioned giant had made his return to the battlegrounds, and he made swift work of 2 Thalmor before turning on the third, but this Thalmor wasn't for laying down, he killed the giant (who I am guessing was already battle damaged from all the crazyness that was going on) with the lightning that nearly claimed me moments before, then he charges me with a dagger, I'm thinking this is gonna be easy peasy, a mage who isn't using magic anymore, he's as good as dead when he reaches me. Well, that was my plan, just as the thalmor got within 10 feet of me, who would take to me but a hunter, looking for the thief that previously interrupted my mammoth battle, and also leaving me wide open to attack from the thalmor, luckily he helped me defeat the thalmor after I backed out of his conversation, if it wasn't for his ultra quick archery shot I woulda been toast for certain, had barely any health after all was said and done, and I had travelled a fair distance across the tundra without even noticing.

Everything above took place within 2 minutes (at an estimate guess, everything happened so damn fast and keeping up with who is attacking what was hard). Also, I noticed that my hunting pal had been noticeably absent from the whole ordeal, yet he turned up about 10 seconds after the last thalmor went down, what the hell was he doing.

I would highly recommend Wars in Skyrim, you really will never know what's going to happen.

(Then again, I don't even know if WiS did anything, cos the giant and mammoths were walking around near a giant camp, the thief and hunter are random encounters, and upon looting the thamor I found a very amusing note on them ("If spotted, you are to destroy her with extreme hatred" lmfao), but this note suggests to me that it was also a random encounter.)

Whatever caused it, it was possibly the most hectic, thrilling few minutes I have ever had playing Skyrim, never before have I been beaten to near death so many times in the same fight.

(Notes: I glugged down a potion of health recuperation to help regeneration speed, used up all my health potions except sleeping tree sap, would have made the whole thing much harder if I could barely see lmao)

Anyone else using this mod got any experiences with it to share?
Anyone not using this mod had similar moments?

Similar moments, yes. I've been attacked by hired thugs and a dragon at the same time. Damn those hired thugs.

Hired thugs were the cause of quite a few of my low level deaths. :( Don't even remember doing anything to anyone to warrant it either.

I think what was most impressive about the above was how quickly an afternoon hunting trip turned into an all out blood bath.
I certainly didn't expect that when I set off hunting lmao.

Mods that add more random events are very interesting. They're only going to get better when the CK is released.

Yeah I know, I can't wait!

Beth has 6 days to get it out the door. I hope there is no postponing.

Just had a pretty good fight against a swamp dragon (added by Deadly Dragons), fighting alongside a Thalmor patrol. I saw their lightning from a distance, and ran to investigate. The interesting thing about swamp dragons is that when they're flying, they spit fireballs rather than breathing fire, so I got to see a number of awesome dive bombing runs that quickly took their toll on the Thalmor.

My current character is unarmored, so I kept my distance from the dragon and let the three Thalmor tank. One of the light armored ones died from a fireball as I was getting there, and shortly after the second one took a face full of poison spit, then was chomped, shaken, and spat out. The robed Thalmor with the lightning was a bit tougher. My arrows weren't doing much, but between my Marked for Death shout and the lightning, the dragon soon went into one of those death dives that tears a trench into the landscape (we were just west of Dawnstar, near a dragon burial mound.)

The dragon crashed very close to where I'd taken cover, so I ducked back behind a rock as it slid past. It came to a stop face to face with the remaining Thalmor. I conjured a dremora with the Sanguine Rose, and maybe managed to fire one arrow before the dragon went down. The robed Thalmor had just taken a fireball to the face and was cowering in the snow, another second or two and he'd have been toast. I walked over and did my soul swallowing thing, looted the corpse and handed the heavy stuff to Annekke (who had thankfully survived the encounter.)

As I turned to leave, I saw the robed Thalmor had resumed his march, and was also leading a prisoner. He'd been hiding throughout the fight, not sure why he didn't run off but I guess he thought the Thalmor protection was a safer bet than freedom.

I have deadly dragons too :D

But, I never get random dragon encounters? :(

Is there a global setting I can flick into the "on" position?

I don't get why they won't attack me though tbh, because I have done the MQ up until meeting that "friend", and I returned the Horn to Arngeir, but didn't talk to "friend" yet, just got the horn off them and went to Arngeir. Could that be the problem?

Also, not sure what mod added this, but I was at a dragon lair, and next to the word wall was a "Rogue Greybeard", I was like, wth, had to reload my save cos he ice formed me and I fell off the mountain. :(

There seem to be more dragon encounters with Deadly Dragons, but not dramatically more, so it could be you've just had a random dry spell. I'm going to have to give Wars in Skyrim a chance though, that main quest battle with Delphine, Esmer, forsworn, a hagraven and a dragon is one of my favorite parts of the game, more big battles would be awesome.

I think it may be something else regarding my lack of dragons, cos I haven't had a random encounter in ages, if ever on this save. :/

If there is a global setting assigned to it then I can check whether it's active or not. But I don't know.

Mods that lump random events together are even more exciting :D

Can you say, stormcloak imperial thalmor giant dragon?

*sigh* if only.

I'm using the WiS IV mod as well. Tried the "Golden Age" version first and found it boring but "Dark Rainbow" seems just right. I've had some pretty damn wild three-way/four-way battles so far and I'm looking forward to more.

I have no mods yet and I won't until the CK is released, I song trust 3rd party mods just a personal problem Haha.

Needless to say though I have had some awesome random encounters the most recent being;

On the way to retrieve arens family sword from skywatch I saw two wizards going at it so I laid low picked my moment and then started plummeting arrows In to the one with most HP I swiftly had him to about 15% I then got almost one hit from behind by a db assassin so I layer a frost rune and ran to get some distance and summoned my familiar while he took on the assassin I managed to finish off the wizard luckily if it hadnt been for my magicka ravaged potions I would of been a goner I then raised the wizard to help me defeat the assassin as my familiar was still but only just needless to say I finished the assassin with great delight.

I would of used my fury spell by they where too high for it apparently.
Master difficulty with 100hp ( I now have 40hp as a s4 camp during day) needless.to say if I was a vamp at the time I'd of died from the assassian.

Giants. Mammoths. Dragons. Mudcrabs. A horse.

And 10 Louis Letrush's.

Was the greatest fight I'd ever been in. :D

Heh, yep...I'm using an old version of Golden Age. The battle that I remember most distinctly had 3 spriggan, several vampires (I lost count), a couple Imperial soldiers (helpful), some thalmor (one dead when I arrived), and 4 wolves. I was level 6, and this was my battle plan:
Spoiler
:bolt:
Managed to escape using the mountains to my advantage.

Previous to using the mod, my most epic battle which shouldn't have been epic at all (minor Thieves Guild spoiler):
Spoiler
In one of the first quests, where you follow Mercer to the dungeon, when hunting K:
I had waited until a higher level to begin the Thieves Guild. A much higher level. Erm...the entire place was filled with draugr deathlords. Mercer kept grabbing their attention and getting knocked out within seconds (his armor doesn't scale, I guess), and I was trying to keep out of sight to grab less enemies at a time. I would still end up with three or four, where they had bunched up to kill Mercer. Pretty annoying/epic depending on who you are; FUS FUS FUS RO DAH AH AH AH of the deathlords just echoing, over and over through the halls...
