Any recent Todd Howard interview?

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 5:50 pm

Has anyone seen any post-Skyrim interview with Todd Howard? I would like to read some of his newest thoughts on Skyrim and the TES series now that Skyrim is done and he can speak freely with no "we can't talk about that yet", etc. I've read dozens of reviews, hundreds of user impressions and watched countless youtube Skyrim videos, but I'd also like to know what Todd himself thinks about how the game turned out, and I don't mean sales figures and market success, I mean discussing the game core and content from a developer's perspective, some sort of "before and after" impressions.

None that I know of, but I'd like to read a fresh interview. The man is probably still working on Skyrim, though.

Funny how we saw him all over the place when they were promoting the game. Now he's in hiding I suppose.

I'm sure he's busy working on Skryim DLC. There's plenty more to come for us...this is only the beginning. With the DLC and the mods...this could go on for years. :D Seriously, I'd like a new interview too and maybe he'll do one around the time he's the keynote speaker for DICE 2012. http://www.bethblog.com/2012/01/10/todd-howard-announced-as-keynote-speaker-for-dice-2012/

Yeah, because he's not busy with patching Skyrim and planning the expansions. The interview thing is usually initiated by the magazines and websites, it's not the dev who asks permission to speak to the crowd. He could post here in the forums anytime anyway, like he posted in the fan Q&A.

I guess the journalists would ask him soft 'yesman' generic questions, while the fans would assault his ass with vitriol reproaches. The only way we could find freeform Howard insights about Skyrim is if he had a blog.

I think there is no 'before and after' for Todd, he didn't have to wait 11.11.11 to play the game like us, he's been playing the damn thing for years so his opinions about the game are probably the same we already know from E3, PAX, ect.

Even if Bethesda is not a public company, they're part of a bigger media company and everything said by them is equally filtered.

What I like about many east- Europe developers is that they're mostly still small startups. They remind me of a more epic and pioneer driven gaming industry in which developers put their face and where not afraid to speak out of their mind.

Before the internet came, magazines were THE only way to promote a game. Nowadays the gun rests in the hand of gaming studios. They don't need magazines to promote anything. Paper publications and commercial gaming sites are kept alive as subdued pets of the gaming industry to generate hype.

If I were Todd I'd use these forums to share some thoughts with my fans once in a while, honestly. Why give the gold to the press when you can favor your own community.

Yep, and reciting his carefully prepared interviews on the each of the DLC's "Micro" and "Macro" details in the bathroom mirror.

It really is quite strange how he was all over the place when Bethesda were marketing a new release and isn't all over the place after that release is out and their big markewting campaign is over. It's also curious why the games industry isn't queuing up to interview a man about a game that came out in November. I bet something really weird will happen like he'll reappear when Bethesda launch their marketing push for the first DLC.

So now people unhappy with the game are going to go after the man instead of the game? Running out of things to bash as they are patched, are you? I love the game and the game design. If you don't, you need to find another game...please find another game that you like.

You just keep going on, Todd, you're doing great and most people see it. :tes:
