The love of Skyrim

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 3:44 am

I am creating this topic simply out of love for the elder scrolls. First of all the elder scrolls had always been my favorite series.Even before morrowind. I know more about the series then anyone i have ever meet. I put well over 5000 hours into Oblivion and already 200 into skyrim.I have read every single peice of info on the elder scrolls. My Xbox gamer tag is even Skyrim Dragon.Anyway i also so a little question.Help get this thread going. Now i know everyones having trouble with the Windhelm house and mine is that theres no chest infront of my bed.I was wondering when bethesda comes out with a patch for this (reading the fixes they will make in a 1.4 patch it seems it will be soon) Will the chest just randomly appear there or will i not get it cause i already got the house and everything?I realise that when you come out with patches you have to concider the people who have already done the thing their patching and the ones who havent. Also would like to say thank you bethesda for not making repititive and simple minded games like COD. Anothering is dont make an online thing with the elder scrolls.Online is very overrated and MMORPG's are very bad in the ways of story.Keep going on the right path.

What I find funny is how not as many people talk about what they love in Skyrim, rather a lot of people complain what they dislike about it, in such various topics.

I do agree with you.
I really love Skyrim, I had the game since it came out, and never got bored of it yet.
I only have 78 hours played, and I am taking my time.
The action in the game is decent and the NPC are pretty exciting when it comes to quests.

The towns could be a little bit bigger, hence some towns only have 3 providences, which is unforunate.

The animals are in wide range, from creepy creatures to the lovely animals.

I love Skyrim and always will.

people complain because they want thier favorite games to be better instead of just saying " this game is perfect" because that will just mean the developers will spend less time polishing and adding in new stuff because people won't want it. The fun and appeal in Skyrim is obvious and doesn't really need to be pointed out unless you are talking to someone who might want to buy it. This game has a ton of bugs and balancing issues that in some cases need to be or should be addressed in updates or future elder scrolls games.

Doesn't every game have bugs/glitches?

The 1.4 Patch will cover most of them, which is coming the 27th of January.

I also love Skyrim, and since I'm new to the Elder Scrolls series I'm still very new to the lore and background. But Skyrim has created a fan in me and I have been searching for and reading about all the Elder Scrolls info I can get my hands on. It's nice to see a topic put out there simply out of the love for the series.

I am glad Skyrim doesn't have a bunch of online players running around. That most certainly would ruin it (I think).

Skyrim is my favorite game of all time. I have been lucky enough to avoid glitches (only a few minor ones). I have reloaded my save one time because of trouble and it work. Sure I would like to see spell crafting again. The towns could be bigger but I like the small community as well. The world is unbelievable and the best so far. They finally cut out attributes and especially classes making it easier to roleplay. It's in Skyrim which I have been longing for. What's not to love?

I love the beautiful setting of Skyrim. And fantastic realm in which to play my role. But I think what really drives my enjoyment of the game is ultimately the lore that you kinda have to seek out. There are tidbits within some of the quests but after reading a few of the in-game books you really get hooked (at least, I did). And reading about the different roles people carve out and different styles of play is just about as interesting as it gets. To say the Elder Scrolls lore is "interesting" would be a major understatement. From the first moments of playing Skyrim the lore starts and I've probably spent as much time reading about the Elder Scrolls lore as I have playing the actual Skyrim game. I had a roommate who played Oblivion endlessly and he never even mentioned the backstory or any of it. There is such a rich backdrop happening within this game (and the series, I would assume) that it just makes the immersion into the game that much more powerful.

but many of them are serious and break quests i am about 200 hours in the game and have encoutered crazy amounts of glitches that remove items, disable quests or leave you unable to finish them, all of whiteruns floors have vanished into a void and basically put all the nearby citizens into a pit and the list goes on and on, all games have small glitches, but skyrim has many gamebreaking ones.

opinionating yourself doesn't make you spoiled and i don't care about the balancing or any of that, but this is the buggiest game I have played with many bugs that broke my game and forced me to reload saves or start new characters to do quests that have become bugged. And as a consumer you should voice your opinion because you are paying them money and paying for thier salaries.
But you shouldn't always get what you want because than many others would be dissappointed and it would kill thier business, but they should take the opinions of the fan base and critics as a whole to make a good product for people.

Don't get me wrong, Skyrim is still one of my favorite games, but thats why I am critical of it as i would like to see it do even better in future dlc or in future games.

I loved vanilla Morrowind and I liked vanilla Oblivion. When Morrowind came out I played it for a solid month. When Oblivion came out I played it for about three weeks. But I'm still playing vanilla Skyrim over two months after release. I didn't expect to like the game this much.

There just something about this game that svcked me into its world from day one, even more than the previous games. I don't know what it is. Part of it is the atmosphere of the game. But there's just something indefinable quality about Skyrim that fires my imagination. For all its faults I think I can say that Skyrim is my favorite RPG of all time.

console

I would hate to have a quest-blocking issue like that. I hope your troubles are taken care of in future patches. I must say I have not personally had any serious issues on the PC, except for small things like books blinking out of existence on shelves but you can still click on and read them (or where they should be). But the items blink back into existence relatively quickly so it's not that big a pain. And it mostly only happens when a follower is close and it happens to be a small room. I think it has something to do with the game trying to let my follow show up in the cramped space.

Yeah, thanks a lot for that Beth. Good job.

1.4 won't even scratch the surface of bugs in Skyrim.

What I find funny is how not as many people talk about what they love in Skyrim, rather a lot of people complain what they dislike about it, in such various topics.

I complain only because I love TES, it is like being a concerned parent.

I praise TES where praise is due. All along the development I have praised the franchise for its openworld nature and I have defended many of the changes made. However not every change is for the better. In fact, some of them are seriously diminishing my game enjoyment. Now I know some of these changes have to be made to make new players interested.

But some changes like the dumbing down of the journal entries are compleetly unnecesary. Those who use the quest-marker dont need the entry anyway. Those who play ''old school'' require a more detailed description of the quest. Including where to go and a little motivation as to why we should do it. Morrowind and Oblivion had this, Skyrim dumbed the description down to one or two lines. Often not including motivation or even worse no description of where to go (forcing me to use that stupid quest-marker).

Changes like this were unnecesary and I will continue to complain about them. But do not mistake my complaining for hating the game, it is still my favorite game of 2011 and perhaps this entire generation.

If you love the game learn to love the Lore. http://www.imperial-library.info/

or for a less exact way of learning it and get the regurgitated versions. Here, http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Main_Page

Then learn to have way higher than normal expectations for each game lol.
