Archer Ranger build question?

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 12:50 am

Hello peeps, Have been gone a few months as my son was born just before Christmas, so i am not so much in the know at the moment and was just wondering if you can use traps and such, IE actually carry and drop bear traps? or any other form of trap i could place myself to help with kiting?

Was attacked by those three hired thugs and they were actually quite a challenge at my level and thought it would be amazing if i could place a trap or two and lure them onto it. Can you do anything like this? Even a form of Magic?

Thank you, i know its a noobish question but i haven't delved into Magic at all so i dont know.

Congrats on your son!

I don't think you can set/re-set traps in this game. But you could try moving one. I don't think you can pick it up though.

you can't carry traps unfortunately, but you can move them around holding the "take" button, too bad.
I can suggest you to be an hunter / animal tamer

The Ranger Perk, chance to Stagger, and Stamina related Perks / Enchants help. Unfortunately, the combat system is extremely shallow, so kiting, as it relates to Skyrim is really just sprinting when enemies start to run at you firing off an arrow and repeating. No cool things like Bear Traps, Snare Arrows, Knockback Arrows or Shoves etc.

The answer is alchemy. Go to the marshes around Morthal, gather Deathbell and Swamp Fungal Pod. Mix the first with salt, and the second with Imp Stool. Respectively, they make Slow and Paralyze poisons. The slow poison is particularly good, lasting 30ish seconds even at very low alchemy levels, and slows them down to 50% of their speed. You can get enough deathbell for tons of the stuff, so don't worry about using it.

It's a lot of fun and fits rangers perfectly.

If you mix Imp Stool and Swamp Fungal Pod, unfortunately you restore their health (unless you have a really high level perk). But you can make nice slow potions using Deathbells. I make paralysis potions out of Imp Stool, Canis Root, and something like Orange Dartwings.

Frost Runes have a slow effect.

I believe you can reset bear traps. It should say 'activate trap' when you hover over it. You can't take them, though.
