The future of the dragon

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 1:53 am

So now that Skyrim has been out for a while and we've all hopefully got our dragon fix satisfied( not me i won't be satisfied until i can ride one or become one lol). Has anyone thought about what will happen to them in the future? What i mean by this is say 5 years from now beth releases a new elder scrolls game. Will dragons still be present or will they all just die off again. Or stay in Skyrim.

I think it would be cool to see the dragons repopulate Tamriel and fight them in future elder scrolls games of course. Even if they weren't the main point or "boss" like they are now.

What does everyone think?

I might like them as an occasional enemy, but I really don't want them to be commonly found, especially if the setting is far from Skyrim.

I'd love to see dragons spread out across the rest of the world, some good/neutral and others wanting to dominate.

They might still be around, but I don't think they'll be the malicious sort like we see in Skyrim.
I can see them as being a little more docile - maybe attacking the odd farm or village here and there, but other than that. They'd make rather nice mini-bosses/bosses.
Just another feared creature in Tamriel! o/

I wouldn't mind at least seeing them fly around. Maybe as a rare enemy.

I want dragon to stat, and appear in the next game. Not as a focus, but simply as anoyher enemy / friend.

When you really think on it,theres not much to bringing one of those buggers down.Dragonrend, hack n slash, few bolts of something and Tom the postman's you're daddy.it would've been cool if they had a few of those big dwemer crossbolts in and around the dragon spawn sites where you could bring them down in an alternate manner.

For me,my perception of those fantasy creatures is a slow to anger, peaceful creature, hard to track and even harder to bring to battle,Top of the foodchain predator why on earth would it need to conquer the lower races of man? Power? Only man gets off on having it over other men.

Beth would have started a heavy mod trend if they had a dragon faction that came to your rescue every now and then during the main quest, not just ol parthunarx but dragons that would help you defeat an attacking dragon by letting you ride them to battle.

Man that would be a nightmare to put that in the game.

I would be suprised if dragons didn't stay in the series from now on. That being said it would probably be 3 maybe 4 in the next game tops.

I agree with this.

I wouldn't expect any epic battles, but maybe see a couple or a handful over the course of the game. I can't imagine them being central to any future story, then again, I can't see Bethesda leaving behind all the hard work they put into such a cool creature.

I would love them to be represented much like the High Dragons in Dragon Age, there are a few of them but they are extremly hard to take down. Dragons, to me, are amazing creatures that are supposed to be the ultimate fantasy creature and they are supposed to be the most powerful creature there is. So they should be like that in future games. If we come across a Dragon it should be extremly difficult, one of those moments where you go "Oh crap!" and you duck for cover. For this to work though Dragon attacks would have to be rare, if not only in set areas so low level players dont get owned immediatly unless they walk into a Dragon lair. But they should not be removed from the lore again, at least not this soon after reintroducing them.
