Suggestions for dragon souls after learning every shout

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 3:58 am

There should be an end to the dragons at some point. surely
Spoiler
alduin didnt resurrect an infinite number of dragons.
Your assuming he's the only one who has that power. Perhaps a few Ancient Dragons have that ability. There could be a few hundred dragon bodies out there waiting to be resurrected.

If you do that part again you might notice that each "ghost" is done by a different graybeard.

Hrm, point.

I am all for this 100%. For two reasons:

- I have always done this. The Elder Scrolls games bring out the completionist in me every time I play them. I always went for one super-character that did every quest, found every location, and yes, mastered every skill. Adding this feature would be a compliment to the completionist buzz Bethesda's series has always had, as well as have me 'give a pass' to there still being dragons even though it would've made better sense had they dissappeared. Do this, and I'll WANT them to stay.

- This will further enrich the experience. My issue right now is that I've already done everything. I'm level 81, I'm done with all quests, I've found every location, and I'm happy with the gear that I wanted. I need something to pull me back in. Making dragon souls function as perks (be it 1 for 1 or 3-5 souls for one perk) would make me fall in love all over again.

I remember a topic similar to this one last month that talked about the same idea, and people already know it can be done with tinkering on the PC. I think Bethesda should add this to all platforms officially. You gave us infinite dragons. Now give us a reason to go hunting again.

I just think that the words of power should require more souls to unlock the more powerful the word. So the first word would requrie one soul, the second word would require two and the third word requires three. That way you would need to collect a lot more souls to unlock all the words. Sure you would have to fight more Dragons but thats not too bad. It would also mean that you would have more to do as to 100% the game you would have to kill 120 dragons to get all the shouts (Someone want to check my math?).

I also have a lot of gold left over, maybe I should be able to trade it for perk points

I also have a lot of ingots left over...

No!!

Game balance isn't designed for you to have more perk points. It's not even balanced as it is. It's too easy, you want to make your character more powerful.

That's just my opinion. Heh

I know the option's there, but the word here is option.

Why should I have to play like everyone else? I'm happy with the way I play. You can still play the way you enjoy it.

There is also Elys Uncapper mod. It allows you to set the experience multipler (0.5 means twice as hard to level) and perks per character level.

Using this, you can easily make it 3 times as hard to level but reward yourself two perks per level.

Eh, I simply use "player.setlevel 6" everytime I level up. Keeps the enemy at low level (good ol studded armor), grants you an insanely huge amount of perk points to splash around too!

I personally like the idea, although I am more of a specialization player versus master of all skills, but I still like this idea because it gives us more of what Bethesda has been offering with this game all along... CHOICE.

Instead of gaining a perk for dragon's souls (though I do think that could be a valuable idea for when you need that one last perk point to finish out a skill tree you've been aiming at), maybe it should be something a bit more related to their existing purpose? In the game proper, when we use shouts after unlocking them with a dragon's soul it takes a while to be able to use any shout again. However, we've seen the Greybeards on at least one occasion using Thu'ums one after another with seemingly no cooldown. I'm not sure that it's brought up in the lore, but I'm guessing that this is due to their years of constant study and meditation on the Way of the Voice. Also, the Dragon Soul system was described in-game as the Dragonborn gaining the dragon's experience with each word of power. My thinking is, what if we integrate those two points into the game system? The player would be able to use excess souls to gain more experience with the shouts they're used on, and thus reduce the cooldown time. Maybe each word could only get one extra soul, with each word modified giving a 25% reduction across the board for that shout, for a maximum of 75%. This would give the player a feeling of growing mastery over their Thu'um (rather than seeming like a legendary apprentice) without breaking the system outright. But hey, that's just my two gold.
I like this idea, but maybe instead of a 25%reduction per soul, it could be something like 5% so by the time you get it to the maximum reduction (75% sounds good) it will feel like you really earned it.

I have to agree, but my variation would just have to be that Soul Collection upon death of a Dragon would simply not happen.

That said, if you killed a fixed number of dragons, you would end up not having to kill anymore.

--

But I REALLY like the idea of 1 Soul / 1st Word, 2 Souls (3 Total,) / 2nd Word, and 3 Souls (6 Total,) / Last word.

1s > 1w
2s > 2w
3s > 3w
----------
6s > 3w

Noone ever forced you to become leader of everything, or do everything on one character. Thats the beauty of an ES-game, the freedom. If youre not happy with it then it is your own fault for making the wrong choices not bethesdas.

I don't follow your logic. The game is designed for a universal character. If the beauty of an Elder Scrolls game is the freedom, why limit my character's perks like he's supposed to be one class in a world begging him to be a jack-of-all trades?

there are imo enough perks to go around. but a use for them after u have the shouts u want would be nice. dragons are becoming an irritation because theres no reward in kiling them. it would be cool if the dragon souls could be used as a disposable potion like power to cancel shout cooldowns. not allowing overlapping of things like call dragon but erasing the cooldown so that once the effect is done its ready for re-use, or a different one right away. like fire breath during a time stop but not time stop during one already happening...and dragons arren't common enough that this would be abusive, ive been playing about 300 hours and i have 31 extra souls.

They did the Shouts the wrong way IMO... Instead of using Souls to unlock Shouts, Shouts should have used Souls every time you used the Shout, with each lvl of the Shout using more Souls... So first word 1 soul, 2nd 2 souls and 3rd 3 souls ect... Making them something that would be used wisely.

Intereseting suggestion. Feel free to make a topic about it, though I think it's too late to implement that feature.
