Jail-time?

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 8:04 am

I murdered Lisette at The Winking Skeever because she sang "The Dragonborn Comes" way to many times in a row and wouldn't stop. So I got sent to jail for murder. I checked how many Skyrim days Ive played so far before I slept in my cell, and when I got out, I checked how many days I was there. I was 7 days in jail for murder.

So then I started thinking. Ive been playing this game for 260 in-game days, and it's about 100 days ago I talked to Brynjolf and got
Spoiler
Brand-Shei
in jail. So I went to Riften, checked in the jails, and there he was, still.

So now... He has been sitting in his cell, for 100 days, for stealing something, while I was 7 days in for a murder... Isn't this... very weird?

i also find it weird that you can pay a fine for murder of city guards. basically being a cop killer. cop killer's do not get to pay fines, they get thrown in the worst part of a prison for the rest of their life. certain crimes should be mandatory jail time and the sentence should be far far longer than seven days.

to make sense of brand shei, he made enemies, powerful enemies. and in a corrupt city like riften i don't find it odd he would rot in jail for a very long time. it still makes no sense you would only get seven days for a brutal public murder of a bard in an inn. in a country like skyrim that HAS to be death penalty material.

You have to laugh at those cheeky cheery racist Nord guards. Or not.

Well, although it would be more releastic to stay in jail for 100+ days, but whats the point? Would you want to stay in there for the rest of the game? In my opinion, it doesn't impact me on my roleplaying.

I also would feel that I missed out on A LOT if I was imprisoned for 100+ days.

Yeah it's too bad he never gets out of his cell.

It's even worse to know that he's the last Telvanni.

But... you wouldn't. The game (AFAIK) just skips the time, it only shows in your log.

I know that, but I just don't get the OP's post.

What would it matter about how many days you are in jail for.
I understand it would make it more realistic for people in jail longer if you murdered somebody, but what's the difference between 100 days and 1 day in jail?

You serve your time and thats it.

Keeping it a friendly discussion.

what's equally amusing is that you almost got beheaded for crossing the border and someone in solitude got beheaded for not doing his job...the skyrim justice system is insane :)

Raise your hand if you actualy want a realistic crime and punishment which essentially means game over if your caught comitting a murder. *If you'd simply reload to undo getting caught your answer counts as no*.

Thought so.

But you didn't get beheaded for crossing the border, you got caught crossing the border and they thought you were a Stormcloak.

And the dude that got beheaded in Solitude, well:

Spoiler
He got beheaded for aiding and abetting a Jarl who committed treason and rebellion, and hence would have been considered a traitor himself. That's a bit more than "not doing his job".

You weren't mistaken for a stormcloak, not exactly anyway. You were arrested for being there, assumed as being a stormcloak, then sent to the block anyway because of the gore monger imperial officer who didn't give a damn. Then there is the guy with the list who didn't have the balls to push the issue of you not being on the list. Then there was the whole reason for being there anyway. They threw out Ulfric's right to a trial because they couldn't take the chance that the sentence wouldn't go their way. Or I should say, the Thalmor couldn't take that chance.

I remember in Bully they made you mow an entire damn lawn (and eventually a football feild) if you got caught. Something like that gives you more incentive to not get caught, rather than slaughter half the city and serve your week in jail that passes by in ten seconds.

Or introduces needless tedium to a game that has already too much of it.

Wrong, the Thalmors would have probably seen fit to have him escape somehow so that he resumes the civil war in full strength ;)

I'm not saying you should get 100+ days for murder, but just, a month, at least, cuz once I had a 12 000 gold bounty and still had only a week in jail, while the other people you see in jail, never get out. At least I haven't noticed.

You can get rewarded if you turn in his quest while he is in jail. Surely he could pay his bounty off. Maybe he just likes it in there like those bunch of lethargic no hopers who keep commiting crime to go back to jail, because it provides shelter and food for nothing.

He was setup - with your involvement if I remember correctly - so he will be kept in jail until he has served his purpose.

Try to separate your going to jail because you killed someone, and his going to jail because someone wanted him out of the way. Not the same thing.
