Killed Dragon but no soul? : V

Hi, I killed a dragon last night while playing but instead of it turning to bones and my absorbing the soul it just died and lay there like any other creature does when it's dead.

Is this unusual, a one off, has my 360 just gone haywire or is there a limit on how many souls I can absorb without using them to unlock shouts?

Anyone else had this happen?

It could simply be a (normally) set Dragon (eg at a Dragon Roost/Nest) that was respawned. Respawned Dragons never give souls.

You will occasionally fail to absorb a dragon's soul after killing one. This issue can possibly result from fast traveling, mounting a horse, looting a container, or engaging an NPC in dialogue the moment the dragon dies.

I've had this happen a few times, I don't know why it happens and usually the next Dragon encounter works as normal.

Like you I'm on the 360 so i don't know if it happens on PC or PS3 though i haven't had my souls "capped" yet as i imagine they thought of you needing future shouts in DLC.

I've had this happen before.

I killed the dragon near Azura's Shrine the other day and last night decided to do the Azura's Star quest.

When I mapped there another elder dragon was circling. I killed and got the usual loot but no soul. Maybe cause the game respawned it but I'd killed that exact dragon before.

This is on the PC.

on my PS3 I have a lv 60 Nord, 9 times outta 10 I kill a dragon and no soul. But then again I have like 30 un-used souls for shouts haha
