over 500 hours and i'm confused...

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 7:00 am

I've got multiple character saves on my hardrive for skyrim - Pure mages, Warriors, Battle-mages.

And I've never had a storm atronach - No-one sells the tomes and I've only ever seen one be cast from a sellsword who i recruited to become a blade.

I play Xbox, So was it taken out or have i simply not discovered the tome? Baring in mind I've discovered 95% of the map on my main save.

I think if you don't buy them from the Conjuration teacher at the College, you have to rely on random loot. You have to have character level 35 before such books will even show up at all iirc. I see Storm Atronachs most cast by Thalmor.

I did not learn the spell, but I created a Staff of Storm Atronach...

...in a place that lets you forge some stuff....

in a magical place....

Hmm no clue,
Spoiler
but you can make your own Storm Atronach scrolls via the Atronach forge below the Mages College. All you need are rolls of paper, charcoal and void salts.
 Crap, I thought this was the Hint section LOL

Oh wait, you can create staves, too? Man, I never really play a mage, so I always learn something new here hahahaha Is that where you need the dynamo cores and your conjuration has to be 100 or something? Scrolls can be created at any level.

Ah completely forgot about that place. I'll check it out. Thanks!

Check out the wiki site for the same location you made the scroll.

The only Place a Storm Atronach can be bought is from Phinis Gestor, the Conjuration Mage at the College.

I was around level 25 (with conjuration around 50) when he had it available in his inventory, but to find it in loot I think you need to have Conjuration up in the 70's at a guess as its an expert spell.

This spell takes 3/4 of my mana pool to cast, but can clear a room of necromancers no trouble.

Did not become available until after level 80 in conjuration. Once reached, that spell tome was available from the trainers, but only the two specific trainers, expert and master.

Phinis is the guy for those spells. Also later, Faralda has master level destruction spells, but you need a minimum of 100 in destruction for those.

Here's the scoop:

For the expert and master level spells, you need to have a skill level at least 10 less than that level spell (75 for expert, 100 for master) before the mage vendors will carry them. So, 65 for expert level, 90 for master. In addition, for master level spells there is generally a quest you must do before you can buy the spells. The quest should be available once you reach 90 skill in that school. Completing the quest usually grants you one of the master level spells, and the others become purchasable at that time.

Character level doesn't matter, just the skill level in the particular school of magic.

The Dremora Lord is better. I have both and the Storm Atronach seems whimpy by comparison.

Yup.

Although, once I learned the Dead Thrall, I switched to that one almost exclusively. Two Thralls, one a destro mage named Kornalus, and a conjurer named Sebastian Lort. Used them for a long, long time.

edit: I agree with others who have posted about the tomes being for sale by certain vendors once your conjuration is high enough.

True for Storm Thrall, but not for Summon Storm Atronach.

I made a Conjure Storm Atronach spellbook.
Spoiler
The spellbooks can be crafted on the Atronach forge in the College basemant. Some mage dungeons have the recipes for it, I found one randomly, but you can look up the ingredients for that spellbook on the wiki and craft it. You can make both the spellbooks and staffs.
