Is something wrong, or are guards slow to react?

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 12:40 pm

I decided to go killing a few people to test out some mods. But I noticed that guards and other citizens don't seem to feact very quickly to my actions.

Is this normal for skyrim? I thought they would react quicker.

Wow, I never thought I'd see the day. That was the biggest problem about guards in Oblivion. They were completely psychic and knew what crime you were gonna commit before you committed it.

Oblivion guard: "I sense a disurbance in the force."

Skyrim guard: "I'd be a lot warmer and happier with a belly full of mead."

Hey, at least the pigs in Skyrim are realistic.

Its more like, I hit a guard with a sword, and he takes about 2 seconds to turn around and attack.

I hit a citizen and a guard and kill them, but the dude nearby doesn't even notice!!

Did you join with the Stormcloaks? Did the guards you kill happen to be Imperial Legion?

I know that if you advance so far on the civil war on the Stormcloak side, Ulfiric gives you sanction to kill any Imperial Legion without consecequences.

this reminds me when in oblivion, if I sneak attacked a guard successfully and kill him, I would still have a bounty EVEN if the guards had no way of knowing it was me! :/

Thief typing on his wooden computer in Cyrodill,

"F**k the po-li--"

"CRIMINAL SCUM! *arrows to death*"

So no one experiences wierd guard reactions? I attacked a guard and all he did was say "WATCH IT!" After I killed him, the townsfolk didn't seem bothered!

I think its funny that I can walk around and hear a bunch of guards do their whole "Wait, I know you!" line, and then they do nothing about it as long as I don't talk to them.

They are probably to busy to try and remember where they know you from. I mean they have to say like half a dozen different possible lines about your actions so it can become confusing.

Whiterun guards, 40 bounty : ambling about, strike up a conversation, "Yeah, whatever." Guy couldn't be bothered, had to find another guard to pay bounty.

Solitude guards, also 40 bounty, also Thane and general do-gooder : swords out, run to attack on sight, no warning, "you will pay for your crimes against the people of Skyrim!"

some of it can be quest related depending on if you are in the thieves guild and if the guild has a presence if the hold yet. If the guild has a stronger presence in the hold it take a little more for the guards to engage you and alot less coin to buy them off.

Still, how come hitting them is so useless?

Even if I am from the imps I should get fined for hitting another imp guard with my sword right?!

Or shooting them with a bow!
