Do Companion NPCs Level Up Too

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 4:18 pm

I am playing Erandor and have been with him from my lover levels. I am now at Level 32. So far he is pretty bad ass since I have given him a few power weapons and armor. However, there should be something that keeps them out of the way of friendly fire and if you take a short cut. You have to wait for them while they go the long way.

I don't think they do. Companions such as Lydia who i found very early in the game were dead before i had even reached level 20.

They are supposed to, but they are bugged... The moment you come into contact with them they are locked at your level/their stats for that level forever... Unless you play on the PC.

Here is a list of all the Followers in game, with their stats, max levels and skills: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv?key=0Aly8njaU3H1adGJYTlJaUnRxRUN2RnM5MkxPaU1mQkE&type=view&gid=0&f=true&sortcolid=-1&sortasc=true&rowsperpage=250

Bethesda, please fix this... It's not fun when you have to avoid certain towns until your at the right level to go and get the follower you want...

P.S: Only certain Followers can Dual Wield 1h weapons, Jenassa and Cicero are 2 of them, i believe Deerkethus can aswell, but im not 100% on that. The rest do not dual wield, but everyone will dual wield 2 staffs.

When I did "getlevel" at Lydia, it always said my level and it did increase with me but I could never see where any of her skills ever increased. Her health stayed at 158, unless I gave her enchanted armor. :tes:

Im pretty sure they level up, if you look up in the marriage section of wikia it shows how your spouse will level and what there new attributes will be in accordance with your level, if their companions of course.

Thanks for your responses. That is a cool chart. It would be nice if they were able to fix the leveling issue. I am playing on the Xbox 360 and the friendly fire issue.

More like speechcraft!

Maybe Erandur can bore our enemys to death with speechs about Mara :ninja: if only he could persuade them to leave us alone...

I'm avoided coming into contact with Jenassa on my dark elf night blade until level 30, just so she wouldn't be complete garbage in dungeons and against dragons. It would be nice if they fixed this bug for console users since we have no way around it. I'm avoiding several other companions right now until the 30's and 40's it's getting a bit difficult having to wait just so the followers aren't crappy. :(

I found Jenessa good in a fight - just very bad at breaking stealth and starting the fight early. I accidentally kille dher.

Hah! Erandurs chatting is cool at first, but gets real boring, real quick.

I read in another thread that you can Wabbajack them into a rabbit or a mudcrab then Wabbajack them back and they will be scaled up to your level. Discalimer: I ahve not yet tried this myself so it could just be a rumor.

Hey guys Woody79 figured out a way to get your companions to level up using a specific item, wont name due to Spoilers, but I will link it. http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1336621-how-to-level-up-your-followers-properly/page__p__20126119#entry20126119. I haven't tested this myself, but from what I hear it works wonders. REMEMBER THIS HAS A POSSIBLE SPOILER

Does this actually work?

I know that most followers level up with you until you hit level 50. Certain followers like Uthgerd only go to level 30. J'zhargo levels with you up to level 81.

I think the way it works is that they will level up with you but their stats never actually update. Like Vaen posted, their stats are locked at the time you first recruit (or first speak to?) them. On PC: Take all their gear then dismiss them. Open the console and click on them then type disable [enter] then enable [enter]. Close the console and re recruit them. Their stats should be updated to reflect their level.

I say they definitely level up. Lydia takes way more beating now than in the beginning,
As in holding off an draugr deathlord for quite some time.
strangely enough she can do forward stealth rolls but does trigger pressure plates.

Aela took an shot with an 300hp damage bow and she lost 10-15% of her health. She was wearing legendary glass and elven but even so this would required that she was close to armor capped, other option would be that she had dragon amount of health. 300/0.15= 2000 say 50% resist or armor level around 300 and she would still need 1000 in health.

They don't, http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1338573-how-to-reset-your-followers-stats-so-they-will-scale-to-your-level-xbox-ps3/ that is how you change their stats to your level.

If you marry her you can buy a copy from her shop... level it up and give it back to her.

The spreadsheet is missing the Dark Brotherhood Initiate. I found this on gamefaq's but am unable to confirm on the console:

Stats at level 50Health - 508Magicka - 132Stamina - 295Alteration - 62Conjuration - 15Destruction - 15Enchanting - 15Illusion - 15Restoration - 15Archery - 98Block - 20Heavy Armor - 15One-handed - 100Smithing - 20Two Handed - 25Alchemy - 15Light Armor - 100Lockpicking - 15Pickpocket - 15Sneak - 100Speech - 20

--

Based on various threads and wiki's, it is rumored that the initiate levels all the way to 81 and also levels correctly.

Is there truth to this and can someone on PC list their stats at level 81 ?
