Question About Quest Step Scaling

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 4:42 am

Hi,

I've been searching all over the internetz and couldn't find the answer to my question, so here I am on Beth boards all fresh and new, so pardon me if I'm not posting this in the appropriate forum section or/and in an appropriate way.

I'm wondering whether and if yes then how quests and their steps are being level scaled. In particular, about Daedric quests. Does each step get scaled separately or the whole quest is scaled to the character level when the quest had been accepted? Say, I randomly bump on a Daedric quest at level 35, but I want to proceed with the quest at around level 50. Will my foes, loots and quest reward be level 50 or level 35?

Same question about discovered areas. Say, I walk from town A to town B, and on the way bump into some bandit retreat (with a large ruin underneath), a few bandits attack me, I kill only the ones who attack me on the road, but don't really walk into the building (don't want to screw up a future quest for that location). When I return to that place, possibly much later, with a quest objective in my pocket, would the foes and loot be scaled to my current level or to the level I was at when I bumped into those bandits when I was just walking the road like a good, own business minding citizen?

Thanks.

Leveled items' levels chosen when the game needs to know what they are. For example, enemies levels are chosen when you first enter an area. Since the enemies are immediate, the game must decide. However, if at some step in the quest it deletes those enemies and spawns new ones in their stead, they may be chosen again to reflect the players level. Same thing with leveled rewards. Those are chosen right when the person gives it to you. You could start a quest at level 1, and if you finish it at level 50, you get the level 50 reward. Loot is also picked, I believe, along with enemies. When you enter an area, chests and whatnot are filled with stuff then. And loot on enemies corpses is chosen directly by what level they are spawned at.

Hopefully that all makes sense. :P
