Sorry, back again with another noob question.

What are all the plants I gather used for in the game. I keep seeing Tundra Cotton etc, and picking it up, but I've no idea what to use it all for.

It's part of the alchemy system. If you eat them you'll learn one of their properties, and if you combine multiple ingredients at an alchemy table you can make potions.
