Poor loot in dwemer ruins?

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 8:36 pm

Is it just me or do the dwemer ruins, usually populated by falmer, have a poor ammount of loot in them?

Other than looting the bodies of my dead foes there seems to be very little of interest to me.

Give me a bandit fort or a dragon temple any day. Plus the enemies are mre interesting.

Anyone else agree?

It is real hard to see the Dwemer containers. I tend to miss them unless I look real hard for them.

As for loot, it seems about the same as other dungeons. But, I do get a good haul of Soul Gems from each ruin I go into.

Not at all, plenty of chests with good loot in them. Also centurions have valuable items, I always come out with an inventory full of decent stuff.

Depends on if you have good smithing skills. Most Dwemer ruins allow you to collect a ton of dwarven metal. If you were inclined to, you could smith it into many thousands of GP of armor or weapons (I'm not positive, but Dwemer Warhammers seem to be the most 'efficient' use of materials, in terms of getting the most money).

Also, Dwemer Ruins are the only place to get dwemer oil for alchemy.

I've been collecting solid Dwemer metal, so any good loot would be a waste.

Not in the slightest.
Dwemer ruins have the BEST loot. For the BEST moneys.
Watch carefully:

#1. Get dwemer scrap metal / struts / blocks / whatever.
#2. Smelt into Dwarven Metal Ingots.
#3. Make Dwarven Bows
#4. MAD Profit (and smithing training).

Pretty much the best source of cash there is early on...

Nope, just the opposite. I usually get dozens of soul gems and all the chests and containers have plenty of gold.

One man's loot is another man's letdown.

As a smithing man I particularly enjoy walking out of there with more scrap metal than I can carry.

Guess it is just me then.

Appreciate the advice, may just be personal preference but prefer the 'feel' of other types of dungeon.

Not really tried my hand at smelting and smithing so maybe something i should start delving into.

Once you get your smithing skill up high enough, and start upgrading the dwarven bows as well (totalling 3 dwarven ingots and 1 iron ingot per bow), the cash efficiency of the exercise becomes truly obscene.

For bonus points, get that quest from the Argonian outside Riften which nets you a perk that makes smithing train faster (and dwarven armour more effective) .... and you'll be laughing all the way to the bank.
