I spent the last two weeks or so of my Skyrim time traveling all over, finding all the Preist masks so I can get that secret one( and the coolest looking one) and now I find out, I have to do all the College quests( Which I havent started, nor had planned to start) to get too that last mask I need. That svcks man

This already happend to me in that stupid Gauldur amulet quest, It tried to force me to join the damn guild before I could beat it, It made the door locked and the only way to open it was by starting the stupid college quests. I really hate that.

I have had no problems with the game until now.

It's obvious that your gameplay style is to go for the highest level artifacts with the minimum amount of work on your character's part. If you're on PC, just console in the equipment items you want and be happy.

It isn't really that big of a deal. Like any of them... all it is is just 'getting your foot in the door' type of thing. Don't have to get any more involved than the main quest line. Just don't take any of the Alternate types of quests. Then you get the item at the end and leave.
Understand though... as it is like not wanting to be an Assassin, but say get a desired item from the quests. But, just do the main ones needed, and forget all the other jobs. Plus the Winterhold quest line for that item is pretty damn cool.

I just dont want too be a Mage........

Two weeks is min amount of work? You can beat the entire game in a few hours. Not joining every faction on a playthrough is one of the things people suggest to make the game have any replay value. Wanting to collect stuff without cheating means unhappy?

Well, you want the mask, you need to take the quests on. That's that

I'd like a fully automatic M16 with an M203 grenade launcher. Turns out that if I want to get one, I have to join the US Army guild. That's life

This is not a problem with the game. It's a problem with how you play it and what you expect from it.
As Staada says there are ways to work around those issues if you are playing on PC. Go to the Wiki and look up the console commands.

Look at it this way: Those items are chestnuts for the mages guild questline. My guy isn't a mage either. I just did the under Sarthaal quest and killed all the baddies with my bow.
If you don't want to do all the guilds in one playthrough, maybe you also don't need all the items?

Understandable, but if you really want them, you'd make a sacrafice.

that and its call role play for a reason and youve already got yours, your character wants the masks the only way to get that help is to do the mages guild, then do it, masters of thum are permitted just as much as destruction mages check the joining dialougue if you need in game events to make it feel right, you can rp your the honery master of the guild because you saved it and are dragon born, you dont have to belive you run it, its not like you do anything in game to run the guild, there an npc in the guild that talks about how she runs the guild for the current arch mage, consider your self a masscot and all is well.
