Patch 1.6 - Save Games Not Loading

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 10:05 am

Just downloaded a xbox live update for skyrim, added the game-add ons tab to the main screen, only issue now that none of my saved games will load....very sad, i'm a good 180 hrs into my main character. Any one else had this issue?

Every time I try to load a save it will go on forever and then just freeze. All of them. They were working fine until I installed the patch. Anybody else experiencing this issue? I tried deleting and re-installing the patch. Uinstalling and reinstalling skyrim to my hard drive. Made a new character, Cleared both game cache and system cache nothing worked.

Go into your Skyrim directory and delete the Title Update, then let it download again.

Whoa, some of the results of this patch are terrifying.

My only problem is that when riding a horse with a weapon drawn, it freezes up every 20ish seconds and stays on that frame for about 5 seconds. I'm planning on testing it with other horses, then shadowmere, and different weapons than the bow but hopefully this problem fixes itself.

My newer characters work now. My 300+ hour character still won't load. Shame I was going to use her for the dawnguard dlc. Oh well Oghma Infinium glitch here I come.

@ttmguitar; Starting a new game is just to test if you CAN start a new game. No one said you had to keep it.

If you uninstall the patch you uninstall all the patches that have been released since launch. It's incremental. You definitely won't be able to play your save games then.

It's of little consolation but just in case folks don't know, the patch we've been given is the same patch that was given to PC users to beta test, so it's untested and yes, full of strange glitches and oddities. PC users are already on the second release of this beta patch. We aren't. It was released to us for the sole reason of those lucky folks that will get to test Dawnguard. I can pretty much say with confidence that there will be updates to this patch.

So don't throw out your old saves, they may be salvageable next update.

That's a relief then. I am able to load some of my saves, but my higher-level characters(even ones with no bloated save) still won't load. I hope I don't get chosen for that beta.
