Theives Guild and Dark Brotherhood

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 10:34 pm

Hi Guys,

I just have a general question regarding the Theives guild and Dark Brotherhood. I'm a straight up Dual Wielding Warrior with Light armor. Sometimes I use 1 hand sword with shield. I don't have any skill points in Sneak, Pick Pocket, or Lockpick. I really don't want to add points into those perks since I Just want to finish my storyline to get the achievement. Now my question is:

Do I really need to have points added into those skills to finish up the story line for Theives Guild and Dark Brotherhood?

Thanks in advance :)

Why rush quests to get acheivements? Well, whatever suits your boat.
I'd recommend it, but it isn't necessary.

I would heavily recommend it for both, for the Thieves Guild it's pretty much essential. Don't get me wrong you can do most of the main quest without a single thieving skill

Spoiler
but it's near impossible to become the head of the guild and doing all the misc quests required without any skill in stealth or pickpocketing

Depends on how skilled you really are with the lockpick. If you have the sensitiveness needed, getting perks is useless.

As people are saying, you don't need them, but it makes it easier.

I do kind of wish it was more like Morrowind, where if you didn't have the right skill level, you couldn't join or advance. Kind of made more sense. If you asked for a quest, they would tell you to go away and practice more, or something like that.

I like pickpocketing people, that's entirely based upon chance so having perks there makes it useful. Several quests given out also relly on pickpocket skill. Of course they can be completely ignored, but it just makes things so much easier when you do have it :) That's a personal preference though

I'm quite certain you can finish the thieves guild quest without perks in any of those. I didn't put any perks in lockpicking (though my skill is 100). Armour class doesn't matter except for its help with sneaking. Sneaking is less important if you can make yourself invisible. That could require buying a lot of potions for a couple of those quests.

The quest that got me started with the guild involved some reverse pickpocketing. I got lucky and managed it in one try without any perks and skill in the low 20s.

Thanks guys! I won't be adding points in those perks. I don't find them useful in my gameplay(my opinion).
