So I perked expert magicka reduction destruction

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 11:27 pm

I don't do enchanting. Destruction has been decent by taking the fire perks including the one in illusion. I got the expert magicka reduction perk and bought the fire expert spells.

Incinerate with my reduction gear is 54 magicka for 100 damage. Really eats away at my magicka.

The I look at the adept level spell I had been using. Fireball with the same gear is 24 magicka for 70 damage. Area Effect.

Area effect of nearly 3 damage per magicka while expert incinerate is single target for 2 damage per magicka.

I think I finally have experienced the fail. I can kill a little bit slower but with 50% greater efficiency by ignoring any spell higher than adept. Add a second target into the area and I have just increased my efficiency by a total of 200% by choosing adept.

I want my expert perk point back.

You want destruction to be your primary means of assault you need enchanting period.

Well, Incinerate is better if you need to kill something faster. And if you have a ton of magicka potions (I know I do) it shouldnt matter

Plus, Fireball can hurt allies. Thats never good

It is my tertiary means of damage after mayhem and 2 dremora lords. But my point is that the expert single target spells costing ridiculous magicka for slightly more damage than I already get with my low cost area effect was unexpected.

The expert destruction spells are ridiculously priced in terms of magicka cost, imho.

Agreed - Bethesda needs to explain or FIX IT. They should be much higher damage for equal cost or much lower mana cost with better damage than lesser spells.

It would be nice if they would actually freakin' comment once in a while - they, as a company, seem incredibly stuck up.

meh, rather everything else needs less damage. One shotting everyone is no fun too.

It's becoming clear they didn't properly test it or simply didn't care about Destruction magic.

Both those damages are 10 points higher than they should be, which is throwing off the per-point cost. This is probably due to the Aspect of Terror glitch.

Yeah, I didn't understand what people meant by saying Destruction was underpowered until I reached higher levels of Destruction. Even after getting Destruction to 100, my primary spell was Firebolt, because with the Impact perk on Dual Cast, and the low cost of Firebolt, enemies rarely got close to me and I could take them out with enough patience.

They didn't seem to notice any of these problems with magic judging by 1.4.

Bethesda seems pretty clueless - I would think changing the stats of the spells would be a pretty easy and minor fix.

They have to know it's broken - I have no idea why they simply don't adjust it.

I continue to be disappointed by how little feedback they give to the people who pay their livelihoods. Many game forums have much more mature game creators who actually interact and talk to people - which shows some gratitude for loyalty and staying with a series. I think Bethesda believes its own hype and most of their staff assume they are better than us.

They hate mages and want to punish anyone not dual-wielding or cleaving apart enemies. Clearly those kill animations were more important.

At the risk of annoying some people, http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=4374 Better Magic.

It makes the matser spells more efficient magika/damage . Not sure about the expert spells,
