Console players are left in the dark.

honestly ITS ABOUT TIME. I recently started playing games on a pc (about a year ago) and I've been appaled by how much CRAP we get.. games that hardly run, companies discriminating against us and calling us pirates so they wont put the game on pc (im looking at you ubisoft). Beth is proabbly my favorite dev AND corporation at this point.

It's not that they WANT to leave you in the dark. It's that 7 Year Old Hardware would explode trying to run the texture pack, and as for mod support. That's Sony and Microsoft being control freaks of what kind of software goes on their consoles.

The power of the consoles is the reason why they don't get Hi-Res textures. If it were easily implemented without performance hits, Skyrim would have already included them in the development for consoles. I do feel that some sort of modding should be allowed, like gameplay effects, etc, not textures.
That would be a dream come true for all console gamers.

It's a shame tough that even if it where to become possible to use a form of user made mods on consoles Sony and/or Microsoft would find a way to make the players or the modders pay to have it published.
And that would remove one of the greatest thing about mods, them being free. (With the optional ability to donate money to mod devs you really like.)

...you also have to think about lower end computers as well. Optimization doesn't just apply to consoles but also to PC. Granted you can always tweak graphical settings on PC, but even then consoles still get a somewhat stripped down version as most consoles represent graphics in different ways such as gamma, color, shaders and so on.

Fine, you can have the high resolution texture pack but just ask Microsoft or Sony for extra VRAM in your console.

Or mod support. Hell, I'd pay DLC price for mod support on my PS3.
Hell, I'm not even asking for mod support, I just want to be able to use the command console on the console systems. That way I wouldn't have to port my Xbox saves to the PC and convert them to PC saves to put in the important commands like "set timescale to 5", "player.setshoutrecoverymult 0.75", advskill lockpicking 100000", set Lydia and the canine companions to essential, etc., etc.

It's just a waste of time to have to transfer them back and forth between file types when the Xbox/PS3 are perfectly capable of running them stand-alone.

Totally agree^ I was hanging out wit the bro who plays on pc, he tried doen the golden claw quest and the claw was no where to be found so all he did was open comand, import claw from game inventory. All this is in my console but I have no way to get to it, so if(and it did) happen to me I have to wait for Micro. to approve a patch enorder to fix this when if I had access to console command I could import the golden claw from game inventory to my inventory and away I go.The worst thing is that it is possible for me to do but I either never play on-line again or wait for Micr. to pull their heads out of their ass and release a console that allows this or a download to open my console commands. :yuck:

P.S. I'm not mad at Beth. I'm mad at Micro. so I hope someone from Micro. is reading!!! I got my eye on you guy's.

Only if Consoles had Texture packs... my life would be complete.

:banghead:
I really don't think a console has the hardware to support it.

Thank you. I did not know where on Steam I needed to get it though.

Thankfully that was mentioned on another thread so I have got it now.

Controls on skyrim is made for console players. Like UI etc

But PC players have the means to change the game. Console players don't. And tbh, the benefit of having a modding community far outweighs petty (and they are petty) complaints about the UI being "too console-ish".

Well, yes, but the problem is modders cannot 100% guarantee they will make the Mod you would like, these are just ordinary people with no obligation at all to us or that it will even work right. We are hoping for something that might not have happened (fortunately in this case they have made a UI). Also Mods were NEVER supposed to fix things they were simply designed to enhance things, but of course it`s now made Devs lazy and decide `modders can fix it!`

No way should the default PC UI be anything like it is when Bethesda devs have 4 games and about 10 years worth of experience under their belt. It`s just wrong. And unprofessional.

For the billionth time, its not Bethesda keeping mods from coming to consoles, its Microsoft and Sony.

But there is nothing stopping Bethesda from buying a license on some of the best mods, packing them up in a bundle, taking them through the Sony and Microsoft certification process and selling them for a profit as DLC to console users. Not sure why Bethesda does not do this. They must think they would not make a profit, but I think they would. I would pay a lot for a DLC of OOO on my PS3

You lot are just gullible...

Bethesda has a hard time with people complaining about the games many jarring bugs. The PC players are angry that Bethesda gave them a shoddy port. The PS3 version is broken ect...

So what do they do? They give us a nice patch, a texture set and the CK. All is then forgiven and we get topics like this. It's called marketing and PR. If they wasn't getting such a bad rap they
wouldn't even bother. They know how to manipulate and change your views like any company. Looks like they are doing a good job.

What should have happened is most of these bugs should have been fixed before release, the PS3 version should have been playable, the PC version should have been optimzed, and the CK
should have been a launch application like with previous TES games. Also the texture pack should have been default Ultra settings on PC.

If you look at it this way you are getting less than you would have done before. I don't buy it sorry Bethesda.

You could pay PC price instead and get a gaming computer capable of running Skyrim with mods and high res textures since you know, consoles arnt powerful enough for that. If I made a mod that added 1000 NPCs to Whiterun and you loaded it up on a PS3, itd probably fry your console and Bethesda would be liable.

They do however intend to make their own DLCs for consoles, which I imagine theyre working on now that the whole Steam workshop thing is out of the way.

Perhaps the consoles are awful but my PC version is fine. Other than 1 or 2 bugs which are not gamebreaking and some performance optimizations this game has run very smooth.

People just like to complain. My PS3 version runs fine. Of course, I upgraded the HDD to an SSD . . .

I had some doubt about the pc version. Was actually going to buy it for 360 first but changed my mind later. Its so easy to improve the pc version that it doesnt really matter that it was a port for me. Just a quick trip to Skyrimnexus first.
