Not only are caves darker, but sneaking has been nerfed a bi

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 12:22 am

My sneak is 100 with tons of perks and after 1.4 sneaking has become more difficult as alot more enemies are spotting me....before patch noone saw me while sneaking even right on front of their face and now after patch that does not happen......at least from what I can tell, enemies are recognizing more even if I approach from backside

So, that's a good thing right?

Makes the game a little more challenging, yes?

I didn't notice that at all. Also, wouldn't making caves darker make it easier to sneak

I haven't noticed a change in either. Did Beth actually say they altered these things?

I also have noticed no difference in the lighting of caves

I am in 360 and the caves are definitely darker...impossible to see large areas without a torch...

The sneak has become more difficult for me or should I say it "appears" enemies see me 100x more than they did before the patch as they saw me rarely before and see me sometimes now...heh I have no proof of either in 1.4 other than my eyes and how it "seems"

Well, a lot of people here have said that backstabbing is OP (haven't played a sneak build myself despite always playing one in Fallout 3/NV; I find it much harder in Skyrim). So maybe that's not a bad thing? And as for the caves being darker... I'm not saying you're lying, but can anyone else verify this? Just seems like a weird thing to change.

Like I said, I have noticed no change.

The Backstab is not the issue. The idea is one shot the enemy with a Backstab anyway. You can't be too strong. The issue is that you can remain undetected in broad daylight and facing them.

I know for me, if I verify my game files, Steam resets my skyrim.ini and my brightness (which I have turned up a bit) goes back to default.

Well, Im always against 'nerfing' something that is intended in the game, but when it comes to fixing something that is supposed to work a certain way but did not that is another matter.

More likely is that your character has hit one of the "hot spots" in leveling where the world has updated and you're facing higher level foes.

You know maybe I am in that "tricky" spot between levels and enemies...i am level 44 now

And maybe the dark caves have to so with resetting the brightness to default after patch although I honestly don't think I altered the brightness but I do not remember for certain
