The OP is referring to the High-Res Graphics pack which was released a few days back.
Okay, the first question I ask the OP is what is your rig (PC) and does it meet the recommended requirements for Skyrim and/or the High Res pack? If it doesn't, the pack either won't run, or will cause graphics anomalies in your game, or crashes.
I'm running off an old duo core system with a 512 meg graphics card, which is far below the specs needed to run the pack. However, I can still boot up with it, and the game with the pack will run for some time before anomalies start showing up, such as people looking like they are wearing purple latex body suits. At other times the game just crashes out.
The way to disable the pack is:
When you boot up in Steam, on the initial game menu (the one where you get the list of opitions on the background picture of Dovakhin on a mountain), select 'Data'...you will then see a little menu with a list of files and any mods you have for the game. The two Hi Res files will be labelled as such, and will have the boxes ticked...untick them, and close the menu. You can then start your game normally.
