merchants don't have gold to buy my stuff

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 2:44 am

Hi

I have huge amount of items I want to sell, but most merchants have around 1000 gold. That is not even enough for them to buy one of my expensive items. What am I supposed to do? Are there any merchants in Skyrim in particular, that are in posession of larger sums of gold to buy my items?

Thanks in advance

If you restore the thieves guild to its former glory, tonillia has 4000 gold, and I think theres a bug where if you invest in the riverwood trader, he gets 10 thousand gold instead of the right amount, but it may have been fixed by now.

I have came across this too, im pretty sure it will happen to everyone but i think if you sell as much as you can to the merchants then wait 48 hours of game time their money should reset.

I've sold a lot in Riverwood & Whiterun by doing that method, either sell stuff then go away and explore or if you want it all sold in one trip just sell stuff, go outside the shop then skip 48 hours.

Why would I want to exploit a bug? Could as well just give myself 999999 gold in console. I want to see my hard work bear some fruit :)

Also you can use perks in Speech to increase the amount of gold they have available.

"If you restore the thieves guild to its former glory, tonillia has 4000 gold,"
And you get a fence in Markath, Solitude, Winterhold and Whiterun who will each have 4k to spend every 48 hours and will buy anything you offer them. I think, this is the biggest benefit from completing the TG questline
Additionally, there is now a mod on steam which puts some dynamics to ordinary merchants which looks promising - the more you sell them the more cash they seem to have next time - no good for console players though.

But I am going to need alot of Speech for that, hence I need to sell alot of stuff for it, which I can't.

I am not planning to do TG with my current char. That mod sounds nice, what is it's name?

The mod is called, "Dynamic Merchants". I think it has promise, and may have some interesting spin-offs in the way people play the game, but I have only been using it for a couple of days so I am not in position to recommend it yet.

Simple. Drop the excess loot and forget about it. Or better yet, don't pick up everything and the kitchen sink. You don't need gold for much in this game, so just picking up gold and gems will be enough and won't bog you down. Unless you're one of those poor OCD people that just have to have every single house in the game with every possible decoration.

Whiterun is great as there are several merchants in close proximity to each other. It's also pretty easy to fast travel or take the wagon, if you're role playing to that degree, to each of the major cities and sell stuff. I used the speech tree on my mage who was not in the thieves guild and never had trouble selling anything once I had invested in the merchants I normally went to. The TG is probably the best way if you are playing that kind of character. There's so much loot in the game money shouldn't be an issue anyway. Just sell bits here and there as you can.

Got tired of the same crap also.
I had to store most of my loot because selling it was just too tedious since merchants didnt have enough money and "waiting" for them to restock got old fast.

As stated above, the other options are not to loot or "town hop" to sell all your stuff, but neither of those allowed me to sell all my stuff without a lot of
waiting or took the fun out of looting.

So i just installed the Rich Merchants mod to give the merchants 10,000 gold.
