Is belethor a werewolf now?

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 11:05 am

So after turning for the 1st time i went straight for a whiterun guard...as i was attacking him belethor jumped in like he was van helsing to the rescue and got clipped by my wild claw swings. He fell to 1 knee but i stopped so he would recover, and he did, yet days later i went to his shop and the door was locked with no sign of belethor. I waited a week and still no belethor...does that mean my claw infected him and belethor now roams the night, never to return to whiterun and face those he knows?
It svcks he's gone, who will buy up all my items that warmaidens won't now?

You can't infest someone else with lycanthropy in Skyrim.
It's probably a bug or something.

Maybe you killed him after all? Or even, the guards did. A stray arrow can really crap up your game.

Belethor: "I used to run a general store, then I took a werewolf claw in the face..."

You may be facing a bug I currently deal with, particularly in Whiterun. Sometimes the shops don't open when they should. If the door is locked during working hours, step back a few feet, wait an hour, then try again. You might need to do this a couple of times. Warmaidens does this to me as well, but none of the other shops in Whiterun do.

Could be just that Belethor is a lazy ass, I know if I use the wait feature or sleep in a bed then go straight to Belethor's shop at noon the door will still be locked, usually have to wait a bit real time before he finally unlocks the door, perhaps it is that?

That wiki page lists some interesting things about his shop, sounds pretty buggy if you ask me.

If I was a shopkeeper and saw the guy who turned into a werewolf and nearly killed me walking towards my shop, I'd certainly lock the door.

Break into his shop and see if he's there. I had a problem with Arcadia staying closed for a week even though she was manning her counter and available as a merchant.

I get this all the time. It seems to be a problem the further you go in the game.

One session, the only shop in Whiterun that opened before 11 a.m was the alchemists. I guess now that the war is over in my game, and they are a bit more lucrative from my business, they run to 'party time' hours.

Bloody nords, spend all night boozing and cavorting...

I have the exact same problem, both with Warmaiden's and Belethor's. I do what you do. Step back, wait 1 hour, and it's fixed!

I've seen his door locked, so I went around the left of his shop and the side door wasn't locked.
Try the side door too. :)

No it's not a bug. I encountered the same thing in one game and in another whats his face from the Warmaiden was missing.I cannot tell you with out it being a spoiler but it's connected to the Companions.

I did and no belethor, he must be dead.
Thanks for the tips bit i'm well aware of the shop bugs, unfortunately this is not 1 of those wait fixes or break in during business hours.
I'm going to pretend he's a werewolf somewhere to deal with my anger of him being gone :P

I had adrienne die mysteriously in a previous game, inheritance note and all, now belethor is gone...it seems i'm not meant to have all the shopkeeps alive in whiterun, i'm just waiting for adrienne to die mysteriously again and then i'll have to kill everyone in town and never return to whiterun again

Wouldn't you have to drink lycanthrope blood to become one anyway?
