Whatever you choose take smithing and sneaking, too.

2hander. i'd played it with heavy, but i suggest it with light. i'll be doing it myself eventually. the whole playstyle, i guess, is about speed and smashing people's heads in. good enough. vignar greymane: "my advice. try not to overthink it."

One-handed and Shield is definitely the safest way to go and as your Block skill increases, you'll be using the shield for offense, too... which is pretty cool. Dual wield is nice, but can get annoying, especially if you want to be a hack and slash tank. I would avoid it. Two handed can be fun at first, but gets pretty boring because there is no variety in combat. Plus if you are on lower difficulties you'll be clobbering enemies in one hit. No, Sword and Shield is the more satisfying route in my opinion.
