Getting attacked by solitude guards

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 4:33 pm

So my first time in Solitude the guards out side the gates dont attack me or imply im a wanted man. As soon im through the gates all the guards attack me instead of doing the execution ive tried reloading it several times. Looking at the stats it dose not say ive got a bounty on me in solitude. Is this a bug or is there something im missing here? Looks like this is going to screw my game up as I wont be able to do the main quest.

Sounds fishy. Did you try talking to the guards outside the gate? Maybe they will arrest you and you can sleep it off in jail.

Also, the Hold name is Haafingar not Solitude in the stats menu. Maybe you acquired a bounty outside the city but within in the Hold.

Careful with the spoilers.

I got a 40 bounty in Hjaalmarch dosent say mention Haafingar and they should not attack me for that much any way. I spoke to the guards out side the gate and they dont do the your a wanted man I know you thing. Im not a vampire or any thing either. Its strange when it loads all the guards rush me and the guy supposed to be executed starts fighting with the guards as well.

What were you wearing? That could have some impact, and did you have weapons drawn or such?

Wearing the Winterhold Archmage robes Ive got the mace of molog bal but not had problems with that before. Ive reloaded few saves back and its not doing it now main thing that's difrent is i didn't kill these Thalmor. but that would come up as bounty wouldn't it?

Sometimes it helps me to get the prison dialogue if I unsheathe my weapon then sheathe it again.

Give this a try maybe it'll work.

1) Save
2) Attack guard
3) Run away
4) Fast travel somewhere
5) "Wait" 24 hours
6) Fast travel back to solitude and let the guards arrest you or pay off your bounty. (Make sure your weapon isn't showing)
7) Enter Solitude

I'm not sure if it'll work or not, but it's worth a try. :)

Ahh...Thalmor killing.

Problem solved.

Okay, the guards at Solitude are essentially Imperial Legion...if you kill Legion, or Thalmor, it's classed as a crime against the Empire, and essentially makes you not much better than Stormcloaks, in their view. Because it is an Empire issue, I don't think you get the opportunity to pay off a bounty, and a bounty doesn't show up, because it doesn't exist, because you are essentially Stormcloak to Empire troops and supporters...which means that you can and will be attacked all over the place.

If you want to continue killing Thalmor, the way to do it is to talk to them, and ask them what the problem with worshipping Talos is...that will take you to a menu with three options, all of which will trigger the Thalmor to attack you. Once they start a fight with you, you are in the clear because they are the 'fight starters', and you can kill them, and loot their bodies...and it's a very profitable little enterprise too, I might add.

Thanks for the post this makes sense now, the guards do not attack me after I loaded an old save before I killed the Thalmor. I think the prisoner must have counted as a witness and ratted on me as he was shouting" help some body do something". Will try out you suggestion im not going to change my Thalmor killing ways any one I come across is going to die basically.
