Maybe a 2H Orc isn't for me...

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 1:24 pm

I tried running a warrior, since my first was a Khajiit Archer. I recently leveled an Altmer Pure-Mage, and started another Bosmer Archer today. I have an Orc 2H warrior at level 13 that just feels so... slow and for some reason, boring. Im thinking about re-rolling as either an Imperial or Nord Sword and Shield as I've never played either of those Races...

What else would make a warrior build actually fun?

I would Dual Wield Orcs. Berserk is great for this as you can't block with dual wielders. Orc meat grinder.

I found that the 2h warrior to be very dry playing as well. Combat with sword/shield is more entertaining and interactive, it seems to me, for some reason.

However! I did find I absolutely LOVE the 2h/bow/dagger/sneak type. Look - for most of the game, you can't kill everyone in a room stealthed. If there's five guys in there, you aren't killing them all before someone sees you and fights you. That's when you pull out the big knife and start slicing.

A straight 2h-heavy armor barbarian running into a room decapitating everyone just isn't as much fun as sneaking into a room, slicing one persons throat, then bashing everyone else in the face with a whacky-hammer.

In general, when I am playing a class type that I begin to get bored with, I try to incorporate shouts more. Shouts to me are very similar to perks, you have them or you don't and having them just augments what you're already doing. Elemental fury makes things more interesting. Ice form can help with CC before you get the sweep perk, and unrelenting force makes any build fun!

I myself can't play a 2 handed warrior either. I have tried several times but they are just way too slow for my taste.

My warhammer orc user eas resulted pretty nice. The senstion that give you a good strike on NPC's head has no equal. With berserk power and Volendrug artifact you easly blast anything.

How about a dual-wielding Redguard? I've just summoned up the willpower to abandon my Altmer Conjurer (at lest for a while) and make a Redguard. It's always been iffy for me but I decided to do it.

I really like my Crusader build, which is essentially a 2h, heavy armored warrior with healing and some basic destruction, but I cannot point to what I like about using 2h and heavy armor. I think it is one of the things which simply is like it is, much like I can't stand to play as an archer.

2 handed is different. I can even use a shield now and have played a fair bit of all the possibilities.

With 2 hand you of course need heavy armor as you won't be blocking a lot. The trick with 2 hand is to have massive stamina and do power attacks. Get the power 2 hand perks then move up to Champion's Stance then Devastating Blow. You should smith. Make appropriate weapons and armor for your character and upgrade them to the best of your ability. 2 handed weapons are big, you can hit targets from further away, often outside of their damage range. Frost enchantments are quite useful to slow your targets down, you are not especially fast.

You will become a monster eventually, crushing all before you.

If 2h is to slow then use a dual wield or 1h-shield Orc warrior. There is nowhere written that you have to use a 2h-weapon with an Orc. In my opinion a shield is the best alternative, because you can boost 1h-damage with berserk and you also have more armor + resistances if your shield is magical enchanted (what helps you to come into melee attack range and also if a dragon attacks you from above).

I liked 2handed, but I can't get into the heavy armor/2h combo. Light armor is where it's at. I train blocking, but standing around is not I want to play. I like keeping some distance and sprinting for Great Critical Charge. Then create distance and do it again. If I do stand around, I don't really power attack a lot. It's fast tapping, unless I need to break through their shield.
