'Locations Discovered' Problem

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 11:40 pm

Hi guys, here is my problem:
I counted all my discovered locations on game map. Currently there are 125 visited and unlocked locations as I counted. But under the genaral stats window it says "Discovered Locations: 123"

Just want to know that have you ever counted your locations on your game map personally and is it the same as general stats panel's report? (i counted many times, and definetly sure there are 125 discovered locations on my map. i didn't make mistake)

In other words, I can fast travel between 125 locations but stats panel says i have 123. What's problem with other 2?

Please inform me about yours, thanks.

I don't look at my stats page. I don't care what it says. So, I guess, no.

Maybe some things get added to your map through events or dialog and don't count as you discovering them yourself, I have never looked into as in depth as the OP, though.

I think this is the case. Shearpoint is in white as a discovered place although I have never been there and according to UESP once you hear of it you can fast travel to it without visiting it first. There may be other places this applies to.
I've got the achievement for discovering all 13 Standing Stones even though some of them I've only read about ingame and never visited them

In regards to the standing stones achievement: It seems bugged in such a way that revisiting ones you've already seen can increase the count toward the achievement.
I have visited the guardian stones on more than one occasion in the same game and got the achievement in doing so.

I got the standing stones achievement at the Guardian stones. ????
Oblivion had the same, there were a few rare locations that were added to your map but never figured in your count, Imperial Sewer (obviously) and Weynon Priory, but if you reached quests directing you to, for example, Cloud Ruler Temple before you discovered it, no increase in count when you arrived.

Steam achievements are not the same as in-game stats. Steam might count any of them as long as they show on your map, i.e. when they are black with only a white outline. Discovering means that the icons are drawn as solid white.

@OP: Did you count just solid white icons or any icons? Or how many black icons do you have left?

Well, you start in Helgen, so there's one you didn't discover. Depending on how far you have gone in the main quest, there's another that you don't discover as well.

The point is, Steam gets the info from somewhere, it could be Skyrim's code giving false information to the Steam wrapper, and if it does that it could easily miscount the stats on the stats page.

Oh, yes. Steam fails at this. It still tells me in my achievements that I have not completed the very first quest, that I do not have reached level 10 or 20, but that I did reach level 50, and so on.

Hot, moist air is what steam is.

My stats page says I've completed 129 quests even though when I count them it's 127. It also says I've unlocked 22 Shouts even though there's only 20.

I got the standing stone achievement when I randomly fast travelled back to the guardian stones.

I've got the achievement and my current character has the ingame stat despite the Lady not being on my map at all, black or white.

Yes, Skyrim is definitely a great game but these type of bugs and incorrect calculations really reduce my playing desire.

If it's not a big deal, please can you count your unlocked and fast travelable locations on your map too? Just want to know am I the only one who gets this bug.

I hope you do not mind if I do not count them. It says
Spoiler
318 locations
on my map and it gets somewhat of a deal to count them all.

What do you mean "it gets somewhat of a deal to count them all"?

I'd rather play my game some more than to count all the icons and compare it with the number of my stats.

Thanks but you were free to help, no one is forced to write under this thread.

My question is still valid and I'll be thankful for the helpful replies.
