What LV would be fair to wear Dragon Armor?

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 9:34 am

This is one thing I've been trying to do recently, and that's to "Weaken" myself a bit. Literally my new Nord char (Light Armor, Sword and Board) has ran with the same Leather Armor he made and found since the beginning. (Still not dying yet, surprisingly)

I happen to find 2 pieces of enchanted Leather Armor and I found myself not changing my armor because of them lol. One is:

Lockpicking 20% easier
other is
Increases your stamina by 40 points

I could just disenchant them and wear something better, but FOURTY points? You can't say no to that off the bat...

Anyway, I'm LV25 now with my Smithing maxed. My Enchanting is still low, like 20s low.. thus why I didn't disenchant it'd be a waste in a way. What LV would you guys think it'd be "fair" to wear Dragon Armor? I mean this because it's the best Light Armor and once I wear it I feel like I never die..

And (like some others) I don't like going against my tradition. IE. I only wear stuff a Nord would wear. I don't like Elven, Glass, none of that fancy crap. I like my Scaled, Leather, etc.

Well, the armor cap is 537. That's equivalent to 80% physical damage reduction I believe. Have to take that into account when thinking about what's far and what isn't. I'm armor capped right now on my Mercenary and I wear Steel Plate Chest, Ebony Helm/Gauntlets/Boots and slapping on Dragon Armor won't make it any more or less fair. Perhaps I'm thinking too much about it.

Lol, I never said they didn't... ;)

I'm simply asking what would be a good LV to start wearing it? I'm thinking NOW because I just got my ass handed to me by the Silver Hand 3 times in a row.. honestly I'd rather have fought a GIANT then all them doped up Silver Hand on steroids.. (IDK what the hell..)

Well then, hey, if you got it might as well use it. The Silver Hand doesn't care too much about fair while they're shoving a sword through your anus.

Lol, I decided FOR NOW to go with a set of Legendary Scaled. I don't want to OP myself just yet is basically what I'm saying.. I want the game to still be a challenge (and it has been, trust me..).

And yeah I already have a full set+shield.. just waiting. I'm pretty sure I'll make a full enchanted suit of Dragon soon. We'll see how the Scaled holds against em.

Hum, switching back and forth between Heavy and Light Armor? Sounds interesting. Anyone have any experience with that being a viable play-style?

I dont bother wearing it until enchanting, and smithing hit 100. usually around level 45-50

Post-lv 50, dragon and daedric are supposed to start showing up in loot. You could wait until then.

My Nord started wearing dragonplate armor around lv 25-30, I think. He had maxed out smithing and had a stock pile of dragon bones and dragon scales, so I just went ahead and made a set. He doesn't take much damage from melee enemies (mages still hurt), though at times he can become surrounded, and then I remember the low levels, when such a moment would have resulted in reloading or potion spamming, and then I don't feel so bad. When it's 10 vs 1, I don't worry too much about playing fair, as long as enemies aren't all dying in one hit.

I prefer Ebony over Dragon, much easier to make and better looking too.

Well if you don't want to be OP you should not have put any points into smithing.
