Redgaurd, heavy armor, high-stamina, etc. All the obvious ones. Also, a right-handed mace and left-handed sword allows for the highest-DPS power attacks. Lots of burst damage.

Orc or Nord with two axes and http://images.uesp.net/thumb/e/e4/SR-item-Light-Fur-2.jpg/410px-SR-item-Light-Fur-2.jpg armor (I would take some other light armor boots though)!

Orc because of the berserker rage ability. You get to cause twice the damage and take half damage. Perfect race for a dual wielding person.

step 1: pick any race
step 2: dual wield

voila, you have a good dw build.

I had fun with a dual-axe wielding Orc wearing heavy armor. Waited until he'd pieced together a full suit of Orcish Armor from looting dungeons/enemies to match his Orc War Axes (around lvl 22-23) before going all-out Orc on everything. He was decimating everything in his path after smithing his equipment up a bit (perked up smithing just to Orcish level), and he practically single-handedly won the Civil War. I'll probably do something similar with a Nord and have him join the Companions.
