Motion Control...Dreams and Conjecture

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 12:17 pm

Haven't seen many topics on this potential game-changer:

Would adding motion control to this beast of a game help to smooth over the lesser misgivings?

Think about the potential for slowing down progress and extending play time. Yes, you may have one shot those 40 bandits, but they all required you to flail wildly :)

Also, immersion-breaking tendencies to mountain hack and fort hack would be hard as hades. Aiming would be tough for arrows and bolts, thus dragons and ranged enemies are elevated to true master level when you open that menu looking for it.

Anyone have an interest in that? I mean, I'm not a console player, but I would buy a system just to play motion control TES if it were done any kind of well.

On console, I think motion control is the best solution for the lack of buttons. Having spells cast by gestures would free up several buttons and would be far less monotonous than having to scroll through the quick menu every five seconds. Next generation motion control could also add more depth to sword play if done right. The Wii-U controller would make customizing your character a rich experience, among other things.

You know you can use a Keyboard and a Mouse which is a superior input device and not have all of the problems you have with a gamepad right? Just buy the game for PC and get over the silly console issues.

You know some people would much rather spend $60 than a couple hundred just to get their PC up to gaming standards.

On the motion control thing..... for this game..... nah. It just doesn't feel right. I like motion control for certain games and this type doesn't seem fun. That's just my opinion though. I could totally see everything jump onto the motion control boat soon enough. I WISH I had a PC that could run games like this..... then it would truly be glorious.

It doesn't take a super computer to run this game. PCs are fantastic investments. You don't have to upgrade it very often at all. PCs pretty much always get the best titles. It is very rare there will be a fantastic game that is exclusive to a console. Plus...it is a PC. You can do pretty much anything with it. You can certainly do anything a console can do and more. If you can't afford to do this, you really shouldn't be buying all those games for your console or buying a console...

Motion control is an inferior input method. It is not as precise and is more limited than a keyboard + mouse with less responsiveness. Motion control is great for your bowling games and stuff... I don't care what platform they are on, motion control is a gimmick and a marketing ploy. Give it 30+ years before technology can surpass a mouse & keyboard.

I'm one of these people who play video games because I am lazy, so I would say no. On the Gamejam video, it showed a guy speaking the dragon shouts, I thought that looked super lame and would make me feel like a total... oh wait I am a nerd!? :frog:

I don't want motion control, I play video games to relax, not get a workout.

However, there are a couple of games that use Voice to access menus and commands, that might be cool, if it is an optional control choice.
