Walking speed change

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 6:39 am

Hi...Am I the only one who finds the walking speed too slow? I'm not talking about running or trying to go faster! I mean when indoors etc. I have always found in every TES game walking is so slow it's painful, and so I run by default, and have to stop and start to get around in a dungeon, etc. without going through too fast! I've always kinda made it work by sneaking while running, which is almost just the right speed (plus it increase sneak skills faster when NPCs are around), but this gets to be a pain when trying to look on higher shelves, not wanting to sneak in pubs, etc...I am not some impatient kid, and am in no rush, but the walking speed in all Bethesda RPGs (including FO3) has always been too slow and the run (for indoors) is too fast IMO. I'm amazed more people don't have this complaint, and can only assume most do as I've done, and run by default and just toggle on/off forward to slow it a bit inside.

I've played with the console setav and forceav speedmult etc. this only seems to affect running. I'd like to increase WALKING speed a little. I think the running speeds including sprint, are just fine. Am I missing something that is obvious?

Any ideas? Thanks! :)

Try that. I just found it with Google so I have no clue if it's up to date though.

The mod I use is http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=1603 by Wolfmark. The reason I like it is because it comes with an .exe file that allows the user to configure his own speeds for player walk, player run, horse walk and horse run. These speeds can be changed during a game if you decide one of these speeds is too fast or too slow.

Or you can use a Xbox-controller and use the anolog sticks. Works great :)

I prefer the precision of the mouse and the use of all or my extra keys that I have with my keyboard. If someone WANTS the features of the things they already own, and in fact may not own or be able to afford a controller (as mods are free), then actual advice would help. Although two of us already gave good links for that.

I agree. Glad you made this thread, I'm going to try the Skyrim Speeds mod that Pseron Wyrd suggested.

I was trying to help the op, I sincerely apologise for that.
Do not worry, I have made a mental note not to give you any advice you might profit from in the future.

I did see the links you two posted, that was the main reason I thought I might add a different advice to the aid of the op.

As I said, help is apparently not welcome.....

Thanks for the ones that gave links to mods, though I try to stay away from most I will try them, and probably skyui because my mouse wheel never had such a workout scrolling through potions etc.!! (why they are not further organized like windows folders by type (i.e. poison, cures, etc.) is beyond me!

Oh and thanks NordhNet for the Xbox controller option too, I prefer mouse/keys but thanks anyway. Maybe I WILL plug one in sometime just to try however. ;)
