Non Crafting Play through

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 7:22 am

Has anyone tried a non crafting play through, where the character uses neither smithing, enchanting, or alchemy?

What "class" did you play. How did it go?

Yeah, it's ridiculously easy. I played an archer / thief character and used a bow the entire game while thieving about.

The question is have I ever had a play-through where I DID use crafting? The answer is no.

This, I'm still going about trying to finish all the quests.

I recently started playing Skyrim and all you really need to get through the game is a sword and a heal spell, which is what I use, and the game is pretty easy for the most part. So no, I do not use any of that crafting stuff... for TESV any ways. TESIII is a different story.

Believe it or not but I am playing a game without the use of any items at all and I am kicking ass. I am not on master yet, but I should get there in a couple more levels.

That could be due to the power of the sneak perks themselves. What about melee combat, though? Could be much tougher surviving only on the loot you find.

How does that work?

How does that work?

I run around naked using conjuration for weapons and alteration for armor. I used a Breton so with a lord stone, Mara’s Blessing and two perk points in magic resistance yields me virtual magic immunity.
To be fair I am using dragon souls to perks mod and unlimited training. I also moded alteration spells to last longer.

I decided to play as a paranoid Sheogorath worshiper who believes thieves are everywhere, so I am forbidden to have stuff and whatever gold I make I have to instantly spend it on training so that it cant be stolen.

Can you play like that without crafting on master difficulty though?

Take all 3 of the bleeding axe perks and all 3 of the ignore armor mace perks.

Everything either bleeds or has armor. Undead don't bleed but they wear armor, Falmer only wear helmets but they bleed, etc. etc.

Really does make the game a lot more fun. Actually makes looting chests exciting to see if you get an upgrade. I also use the treasure hunter perk since I don't craft.

I like alchemy so much, shame there is an ingredient respawn bug anyways, I find it addictive to harvest and forage for my plants you also do not have to invest in the entire tree.

yes it might not be fun but yes

I have a naked DR of 80 you'll have it at 85 by smithing armor. That 5% really doesnt make or break you.
I'll have Magic Resistance at 85 naked and that is the max
Damage output is severely limited by not smithing and makes it so that you are occasionally reliant on summons. Still when you end up getting 2 Dremora Lords there is really nothing that can stand in your way.

i used them on my first character. on my second i decided not to, but on master as a pure mage its really hard. the spells are quickly getting more expensive then they're worth. i finally caved and started upping enchanting just so i could cost cut my spells more.

I wouldn't like it because I couldn't make money. That's mainly what I craft for; money :)
