I chose my path levels so that I could enchant and smith with enough skill to make some really high damage weapons (no cheats/glitches). I got my Daedric Bow up to 423 damage. I read the release notes over Patch 1.6, in particular the one that said that if fixed a glitch where bow damage was calculated incorrectly. When I loaded up my character just now, I noticed that the damage on my bow went down to 375 (48 point drop in damage). My question is this: Did the update actually make my bow weaker, or did it just fix the displayed damage value?
If it actually made my bow weaker, my next question is, "Why would you do such a thing Bethesda?" Even if it were to address an exploit or a glitch, I still ask, "Why?!" I've read and noticed that glitches and exploits that allow players to make extremely powerful characters, are constantly being thrown out with each patch. What is the rationale behind this? And don't say it's to make the game more "balanced," because that's a completely invalid excuse in a single-player-only game that includes user-selected levels of difficulty. If players wanted more "balance" or to make the game harder, they can turn up the difficulty. Sometimes, it's just as fun to play as a "god character." Or is Bethesda rudely implying that they know what we find fun, more than we do? They didn't pull these stunts in Oblivion, so why bother with Skyrim?
