furious start; boring end

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 8:16 am

hi friends;

I think the game starts very good, but after 50-60 hrs of playing it ends up to a boring "passing time".
and that's how I get back to my other hobbies after playing it for 1 month.
and I am like this; goodbye Skyrim, hello life!

ps: I still play it, but 1-2 hrs per week!

but I play Oblivion over 1 year!! I don't have the same feeling about the skyrim, although the game is better in graphics, gameplay and ... but I think the story is weak.

So was Oblivions...

I have not beaten Skyrim yet but that may because I just stopped caring about the main story.

I might max out my current toon and wait for dlc. I do want to build and finish a rogue type archer and dagger dw though.

My problem with the game was that I didn't feel like the hero Dragonborn. Everything was too easy: Enemies, Dragons, Traps, Lockpicking, Sneaking, Puzzles, Navigation, Too Lit Dungeons/Nights, Instant healing potions...The list goes on. It was only fixable with mods. Before finishing the main quest I restarted with a bunch of hardcoe mods removing most of the too easy casual player features, and also added the Thuumic mod making the shouts voice controlled. Now I finally feel heroic, and the game has become epic.

I agree that most of the quest lines are too short. Also many things don't have enough depth. It remains to be seen what mods can do, and if the game becomes as long lasting as the previous games.

Same...

654 hours on first character, 50+ on second...and it's really different.

I spend more time on the forums than in the game now :sadvaultboy:
Depending on how you played so far, you might be doing yourself a favor by taking a break from it. 50-60 hours isn't a lot, so if you ever decide to run through it thoroughly, it won't feel as repetitive later on.

You should try making your own stories for your characters.. That style of play suits TES games much better and you'll get more out of it.

But you may want to continue your hobbies and meeting your friends a little longer before you do that, haha.

I sure don't play it as much as at start, but mostly because I've seen pretty much every quest around 350 hours, now I'm around 400 and I play like 5-6 hours per week

If i get bored on my characters I start a new one and follow a certain rule, perhaps i'll play only using iron weapons and armor or attempt to never actually kill anything and let others handle everything. It's quite fun to play with set rules :)

HERE'S YOUR PROBLEM! * In Adam's voice.

Anyway, maybe you're playin' with a character, what is boring to YOU?
I for example find mages boring.

I've only played 1 char, at level 50 now, about 150 hours played. I play 2-3 days and then take couple days off. Probably 2 to 4 hour stretches.

I am trying to do it all. Almost everything discovered, most cleared, saving all quest lines till end but have started all. Game is really fun! Not OP, no fast travel, no self gimping, some RP but not pointlessly. Is great!

Might replay a little as other char with mods. No mods yet

make your own story? sorry that sounds very odd to me, i know its a rpg and many people do it ( not trying to flame anyone ) but unless they make some preset storylines u can choose from just like dragon age: origins and people would actually recognize you by that, i won't do it.. i love to rp, maybe not as hardcoe like many others but i want recognition and not some story i came up with myself that noone knows anything about or u can tell them about.

Obviously the excitement of a whole new world is going to wear off. From that point on the game is what you make it, you get out what you put in. It can still be fun if you want it to be...

340+ hours and climbing, 3rd major character, inches from lvl 40 this time. Never got an alt to 50, was 4 levels away with my first toon, but he was too OP. Still trying to work out which three daedric artefacts I have left to find, then I am 100%.

I think the story is weak in the game because they spent too much time into the graphics side off the game. Its sounds like a hard thing to do to blance them both out to make a perfect game. If they do make another Elder Scrolls game hopefuly they will have balanced it out with both good graphics and story line. They should have made the ending a bit more dramtic and seem important. When I got to the end after defeating the Dragon, I was like "Is that it?! Boring  " Made me not want to play through the main story line again.

Restart the game.

I've probably restarted the game 20+ times, and played it in total around 300 hours by now.

I was that school of thought in morrowind and oblivion but in Skyrim I have been fleshing out my characters stories. It's not so much about the recognition of who you are from other NPCs more than is about defining what my character does and how my character evolves by doing things differently over time. The reason I never did this in prior games was because I would chose my major and minor skills then figure out how to level them up efficiently then that defined how I played the game. I was a role playing accountant. For some people this was deeper role playing... maybe so by a rigid set of guidelines but Skyrim is more organic.

Play an enormous amount and still loving it. Mods are starting to come out on PC that are fixxing manuy of the little things missing and that helps. I heavily role play and Skyrim is a great sandbox to do that in IMO.
