Skyrim Lore Question Thread

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 3:30 am

I got some questions for all you self-proclaimed lore experts.

1. If the Thalmor represent the Aldmeri Dominion, why are there no wood elves in its ranks? They believe in the superiority of all mer, not just altmer right?

2. What officially happened to the Dwemer? We all know they disappeared but what happened to them after they vanished?

3. What's the deal with Saarthal and the Night of Tears.. give me everything you know about it.

4. Akavari and its inhabitants... what's the deal with that place?

I'll have more in a few mintues... *rummages through brain*

1. Actually, it is just Altmer.
2. Officially, they've never been entirely clear.

Not entirely sure about 3 and 4.

What? They say repeatedly that they cover the Elsweyr province...

Well..even among the Thalmor, many of them consider other altmer to be just as impure as other mer and men. Don't quote me on being 100% right, but I think it's all based on blood and lineage to the dominion.

This one would likely get better answers in the lore forumhttp://www.gamesas.com/forum/16-elder-scrolls-lore/ as to what i remember of the lore the dwemer merged themselves with anumidium, and the altmer mainly just consider themselves Superior and the other elves as lesser mer. not sure on the other two.

All i know about the akavari is that they came from a land to the east of tamriel called akavir wich means "dragon land". Read the book in skyrim called "report: disaster in lonith" if your interested.

1. If the Thalmor represent the Aldmeri Dominion, why are there no wood elves in its ranks? They believe in the superiority of all mer, not just altmer right? the dominion only believes the altmer should rise to immortality (i think) and are only using the bosmer/khajiit till they unmake the world (it is my understanding of the altmer/dominon religion that their god forsake them and they became mortal because munds wa created, they want to uncreate it)

2. What officially happened to the Dwemer? We all know they disappeared but what happened to them after they vanished? they became the skin of their (failed) god, numidium (or something like that, i am not 100% sure what the god was called). not a single one is believed to remian in mundas, oblivion, or the outer realms (people have tried, and failed, to find others besides the last living dwemer [which was on vvardenfell, so he may be dead])

3. What's the deal with Saarthal and the Night of Tears.. give me everything you know about it. falmer attacked the nords over an artifact with emmense power (and, i assume, they falmer were going to use it for a violent act, given the artifact's nature
Spoiler
the artifact was the eye of magnus, you see it in the college quests

4. Akavari and its inhabitants... what's the deal with that place? akavir is another contentint with 4 nations (with 4 races) ka po'tun (tigre-men whose leader has become a tiger-dragon and sworn to defeat the tassac empire), kamal (ice-demons who invade tang mo every summer, when the ice melts and they are free), tang mo (monkey-folk who have been attacked/enslaved by every other nation at one time, presumably still in an alliance with ka po'tun and still holding off the kamal every summer), tassac (snake men who ate all the dragons and people, have the strongest navy). i think all but the tang mo have attacked tamriel at one point or another and the emprie has, at one point, attacked akavir

my responses are in red, the stuff about akavir was from a book in oblivion (which may or may not be correct and may or may not still be relevent to akavir)
