What types of quests do you enjoy playing?

I enjoy scavenger hunts like collecting stones of barenziah, or finding 20 jazbay graqes.

How about you all?

Unique quests, Skyrim lacks these completely.

Quests that aren't fetch quests, where you can just explore a place, read lore and find out more about place. Oblivion really opened my eyes....

I am a hige fan of missions that can be approached in a different number of ways ie:Stealth, Trickery, Brute Force. One example is

Missing In Action:The rescue attempt can be done many ways, all equally challenging. I turned all the Thalmor against one another with Frenzy, once they were dead, back-stabbed the Justicar guarding the prisoner, and walked him out. Once outside I cast Harmony, so the Thalmor just watched as we walked away.

The Thalmor hate me now, attacking on site.

Ones like "Blood on the Ice" & "The Mind of Madness. Though I'm haveing a ball doing the side quest's for TG. They might not be unique, but I love stealing thing's from under ppl's noses. I could do it easier...but why?

Most Daedric quests are pretty good, especially the ones given by Sanguine and Sheogorath are pretty cool. I also like quests like Discerning the Transmundane, the ones involving huge dungeons and many side missions inside the main mission.

I love missions where you are assigned to do something, but then the quest turns into something you didn't expect. I also like quests with some mystery, where you have to find a person guilty of a crime. :)

I like playing detective, so I enjoyed Blood on the Ice. (no spoilers, but that quest was just awesome)
I also like some of the DQ, namely Sheogorath, Sanguine, Hircine (not the quest as much as the mere ending location- wow), etc.
I never liked fetch quests, but bounty quests can be cool. Sometimes they lead you to a cave filled with loaded bandits, or to a Giant camp with a particularly nice chest.

I like quests that start out small and seemingly insignificant but turn itno something much larger and interesting. I have always enjoyed the quests for the daedric lords. Also love quests having to do with uncovering legendary artifacts!

I like quests that have real consequnces or drive a fine line between right and wrong where you have to make a judgement call.

Going to kill an evil villain and finding he spent the last few years looking after his little daughter is the sort of thing I like.

Wow, I hate those. Especially the stones since it forces you to join every faction in the game to get them all. From a RP standpoint it is a total fail since no one could/would really do that.

Anyway as far as factions go the DB by far had the most interesting, but I could only play them with the one evil character I played. Man I wish any of the other factions had that much thought put into thier quests.

As far as random ones I guess the 'Kill Bandit Chief'. Pretty straight forward and they generally send me to new locations (until I've done too many of them).

Couldn't you also do it on any character with a high sneak? I haven't tried to get them all yet, so I don't know.

Dungeon quests where i have to retrieve something for a merchant or other individual. Seeing the happy look and words of graditude afterwards is quite rewarding and adds to the sense of accomplishment. Then there are assassination missions to take out bandits which always make me feel..good.

I am a big fan of this type of quest too. There was one mages quest in Oblivion where you had to retrieve a staff and you could bribe/charm the guy and then buy it from him or you could just sneak into his basemant and steal it. Don't know if he was essential or not but if they made him non-essential, you could have just pulled out your sword and killed him and then strut into his basemant to recover the staff. Wish there were more of this type of quest. They seem to be precious and few.

For me I have two favorites. The first is a quest with multiple ways to complete it, as has already been said. The other is one where you have multiple choices of who to help, and different quests open up as a result. I like not being able to do everything at once with one character.

Yes, I like that too! I amend my answer above to incorporate your points.

I enjoy quests that have multiple solutions. In F:NV, I talked my way out of problems every chance I got. And I enjoyed the quests where I could sneak past without killing anyone. Even if ultimately the outcome is the same, I like having the choice in how I do it. Although multiple outcomes are also better.

If memory serves me, I think I recall doing just that on my first playthrough!

I don't mind kill / fetch quests, as long as they're fairly complex and unique. Like having to research an item and it's possible whereabouts for a fetch quest, then exploring a maze-like dungeon for hours to find it..... instead of simply being told the exact location of an item in a small dungeon or camp.

I have to agree with this. There are no other quests like it - except for the one with the dog, that was more a fetch this type of quest.
