Quest? There isn't a quest related to these jars though, you will find them in various locations. Some LOCATIONS might be tied to quests, but not the Jars.

I have a butterfly and a dragonfly. Envy your luna moth, hope I'll find one too (don't tell where though!)

By the way, the jars respawn. So it's possible to collect a specimen for each house.

You mean the Resist Fire recipe? It lists a gourd, which is food and can't even be used in alchemy. Weird. Might be a typo in the recipe.

If you like the animation, the Dwemer Centurion dynamo's also have movement and make pretty good decorations. specially if you put them in a darkish corner.
