Dog Armor

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 6:22 am

Don't know if tihis has been discussed before. Searched the forum but nothing obvious came up.

Anyway, bought a dog from a guy. Was wiith me for awhile before mysteriously disappearing, only to reappear several dungeons and many miles later.

After his sudden reappearance, we travelled for awhile before he met an untimely end at the hands of bandits.

As I gazed at his lifeless body, I couldn't help but think that if he'd been armored, he might have fared better.

There have been armored dogs used in war here on earth, e.g., Romans, so I wonder why dog armor isn't used on Nirn?

Anyone else be interested in armor for their dog?

I realize this is pretty trivial ... particularly as war dogs don't seem to be a major part of the game (only found that one guy who was selling a dog. Guess there are no puppy mills in Skyrim) ... in the grand scheme of things but, thought I'd ask anyway.

An armored dog killed Conan's dad.

He was a Rottweiler too. I wonder why those aren't in-game. Or some kind of spitz/huskie. Skyrim dogs seem so...I don't know, they're kind of goofy/happy dogs. Not sure what kind of armor they'd look cool in, if there was any at all.

Well this thread has taught me something new. I don`t believe anything I read on a forum at first sight, so I checked up and, yes, indeed, dogs like the big Mastiffs were given armour in some cases. It was no guarantee of survival, but it helped them survive a bit longer against blows.

To my untrained eye, the Skyrim dogs have a wolfhound appearance.

For "war dogs".

Oy. They're http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/6e/Irish_Wolfhound_Sam.jpg/760px-Irish_Wolfhound_Sam.jpg. Those are damn cool animals irl! Plus, they fit very well in the Skyrim world.

And no to dog armor. Seriously, first horse armor in Oblivion (which was still kinda acceptable seeing as horses wore armor during wars and all in history), but now also dogs? :/

Dogs simply need an overhaul, just like the horses. Stronger, at least as fast as the deers and elks, and more herding behaviour (e.g. chasing an enemy towards your character so you can finish it off). Oh, and of course, less barking and pushing! I was glad I was done with Meeko, that one was the worst with me! Besides, the barking only goes along with guard dogs, not the sheep herding races. In their cases, barking means it's dominant over you. :/
