Reputation System: Creating a Ranger

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 9:29 pm

First, let's be clear, this isn't about a lack of a reputation system or anything like that but rather a take on a class that is very dear to me; the Ranger.

We have NPCs, usually merchants, that if we do quests for them they become "friendly" with us and allow us to take items without having to steal them.

The idea here is to apply somewhat the same thing to nature/animals. For instance, remove monsters from a certain area, without attacking wildlife (bears, deer, etc), perhaps even using Calm on wildlife enough times and wildlife in that region would no longer attack you, perhaps even monsters such as Spriggans would no longer attack you either, perhaps would even come to your defense.

Thoughts?

I loved the boots of Kynareth from Oblivion that would prevent wildlife from attacking you. I think adding a similar item (say, for completing a quest involving Kynareth?) would be the easiest solution, although I don't dislike the idea of having some kind of measurable report with the animals.

Final Fantasy Tactics for the win.

Yes, an item would be favorable as well.

If you are on the PC, then http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=10860 will keep those wolves, bears, cats, and spriggans from attacking you.

Not sure if it is a patch or my character's are now high enough in level, but I am getting attacked less and less by animals in the game. Where before if they even caught a glimpse of me, they came charging, now, they will try to warn me off and will ignore me if I don't get too close.
