did they fix farengars bad acting?

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 4:48 pm

i started the main quest with one of my characters and as i was preparing to plug my ears and turn on subtitles when farengar was about to talk. i was to late due to a distraction it was then i noticed that his obvious poor script reading acting was replaced with dialouge that actually sounded natural and convincing. did anyone else notice this?

From the way he's written I thought he was supposed to be a bit awkward and geeky anyway.

Nope. I recently started a new character and got to "that point" where you meet him for the first time. He still sounds like a bad anime voice over....

I can't see any of the VA's changing, for any reason. He is still same painful pizza delivery guy.

Indeed, that's what I always thought.
His funny accent, attitude and fuzzy mutton chops made him one of my favourite characters in the game.
Even inspiring me to make my own Nord mage, hah. Not a clue why he gets so much hate.

His voice acting doesn't bother me... Maybe because I never cared about him in the first place and hummed a song in my head while spamming the "A" button on my controller so I could skip his useless dialogue and get straight to the quest he was telling me about.

Is the OP serious? I really can't tell. I always thought Farengar's voice acting was one of the best in the game. I love his voice and accent. One of my favourites in Skyrim along with Ulfric and Esbern.

This is not fair. Farengar is a mage, not an actor. How'd you expect him to suddenly become a good actor? Lets see how well Robert De Niro manages at casting a flame spell...

This. His voice on its own isn't the best one, but it fits him nicely and adds to his character appeal.

I don't think the problem is Farengar's voice, it's his accent combined with a passive, boring tone. One I can live with but both? For example the most over-the-top Arnold Guardzenegger accent, and the female Nord voice (like with Mjoll) are very much okay by me since despite the horrid accents the acting itself is good.

To those who say Farengar's awkward tone is intentional, the man voices other characters in the game too and they all sound the same.
