How long before you visited other major cities?

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 2:40 am

After about 50+ hours the only major city I've visited is Whiterun. I have been to Riverwood and Helgen as well. Been busy exploring and doing quests in Whiterun Hold. What about you guys and girls?

Depends.

On my first character (a "trial" character to learn about the game mechanics) I went everywhere each successive quest sent me.

On my thief character, I came out of the cave and ran right to Riften, totally bypassing the Main Quest until about level 39. Visited many places.

On my mage character, I came out of the cave and ran towards Winterhold (Stealing Cicero's horse on the way lol). Visited many places.

On my Orc Imperial, I came out of the cave and ran straight for Solitude. Visited many places.

Guess it doesn't depend after all, I am quite the vagabond... :bolt:

I want to see the cites so i take the coach as soon as i finish up the first stage of the main quest in Whiterun, Give or take about three hours.

I always drop into Solitude for a beer or two before i hit the streets.

You can explore any way you want in Skyrim & there are no prizes for not visiting a city for the longest time.

I usually explore them all, even my Khajiit has made the freezing trip to the cold north. (Winterhold because a quest required it, Dawnstar because it was on the way)
I almost forgot, she hasn't been to Windhelm before. I guess I'll go there one day, since I have some of the estates near discovered.

Overall, I usually visit all of the cities during my playthrough. Lots of interesting things to do everywhere.

My second major character (currently at Level 65) didn't visit Markarth and Solitude until Level 50, Falkreath until Level 40.

My newest character (which I can't play because I need my mods and they aren't compatible with the newest patch, thanks Beth for forcing me to update -.-) is Level 17 and the only city he hasn't visited yet is Markarth. Not having locations and enemies on the compass really helps with staying on the roads and not wandering off to die. ;)

It took me 100 hours or so to finally leave Whiterun.

I had been doing quests from there, including those from the Companions, bountry quests, and others that took me all over Skyrim without actually entering any of the other cities. Once I finally ran out of quests to do in Whiterun, I finally made my way to Winterhold, then Markarth, and now Dawnstar.

At ~175 hours and lv 59, I have yet to do any quests in Solitude, Windhelm, Riften, Morthal or Falkreath. I also haven't been to High Hrothgar or started the Civil War questline.

Skyrim is like a juicy, tasty steak, where I just want to savor every bite. I'm in no hurry to get this playthrough over with.

My first character went straight to Riften. That character went from Riften to Windhelm to Winterhold. I didn't visit Whiterun until I started my second character. I didn't see Markarth until my third character.

I'd guess it took me somewhere around 150 - 200 hours to see all of the cities in Skyrim.

I am OCD and I have to see all the cities real soon to see how they look. Probably seen them within the first twenty to fifty hours somewhere in there.

I'm too curious.

One of the first things I do in this kind of game is go looking for the major towns and cities.

I still haven't properly explored Markarth though. Just passed through briefly a couple of times.

Me too.

That is my first goal in these games is seeing all of the cities, I cannot seem to help myself at all.

I have made Markarth my home and my character loves the cozy feeling of the house there.

It took me an hour to find any of the major holds. I took a wrong turn after getting out of Helgan and was wondering the winderness forever until I found Riverwood.

224 hours logged, and I haven't been to Dawnstar or Solitude yet. I went to Falkreath for the first time maybe 20 hours back. I've lived almost entirely in the east, well within Stormcloak-held lands, and it's likely to stay that way for some time yet.

First game day, I took the carriage to every city I could. Just so I could get from one side of the map to the other easily for quests. I fast travel close (or far) from my destination and explore/walk the final distance.

I usually clear an area before moving on and that's partly the reason I cannot stand the quests in Skyrim where it gives you a quest on the other side of the map.

less than five hours to be sure, my first character did the majority of the main quest early on, and i think the companions had me travel to a couple of the cities to fist fight people

not sure what you defined as major city, to me the major should be whiterun, windhelm, solitude and markath, and i haven't visit rift yet.

i only visited whiterun and windhelm, the 3rd major city solitude, i visited it when i am around level 50, then markath
now i pratically cleared all these region quests, rift is my next destination.
i am level 55 now, playing on master level
