Eh, it's a single player experience. Sure, the idea of swordfighting your buddies may be amusing in the short term, but WoW ruined the Warcraft franchise just the same. ):

this isn't call of duty the map isn't 10ft by 10ft and the system COD uses is the only cost effeicent way of making it possible which is P2P (peer 2 peer). Skyrim is already taking majority of not every bit it can to run doubleing that load is impossible on current hardware without very severe cuts in terms of graphics and stability.

If it was multiplayer it would kind of kill the whole "You are the chosen one" feeling wouldn't it? Instead of being the only Dovahkiin there would be multiple. That is one of multiple reasons as why not to have TES enter multiplayer.
