Captivated

Ive spent quite a bit of time in the game now (skyrim) And throughout the course of my adventuring, I keep coming back to this same thought as i trapse about the various holds; "when is something going to grab me?"

Im not connected to the game, and im not engaged like i was in the previous title. I dont know why or how this game couldnt be more engaging than oblivion was. The visuals are stunning, the combat is improved.. overall it is much more polished and beautiful than oblivion. But why doesnt it grab my attention like oblivion did? Subconciously i feel like i need a strange door to pop up. But gnawing at my gut is the feeling that something is missing. I cant put my finger on it but i really feel a sameness everywhere in this game. Skyrim occupies nearly the same land mass as Cyrodill, but even with added altitude the game somehow feels smaller.

Were the ayeleid ruins longer? Was the drastic visual contrast oblivion gates provided that important?

If anyone has any ideas on how i can break free of this please share. I would love to feel that rapture again, and long to do so in this beautiful environ.

These are some of the reasons why I went back to playing Oblivion. To me Skyrim just feels emptier than Cyrodiil. In your case, I'd suggest going back to playing the older game for a while, and then see if you can get more immersed in Skyrim.

I still play Morrowind because it's a better game.

you're probably right. I've been avoiding that in the hopes that something would click for me and this game. I guess im just gonna have to accept it and step back a bit... one step back, two steps forward i guess.
