That really wasn't indignation, just a correction.

If you're actually interested in learning about the Dwemer, play Morrowind, or just look them up on sites like UESP. But you're definitely confusing Nirn with Middle Earth.

sounds like indignation to me.

anyone who hasn't played these games before has absolutely no reason to think they are anything other than the traditional miniature dwarf. They're even called that irl

My problem with armor and weapons in Skyrim is that it's SO redundant and shows complete lack of imagination. Every category has a dagger, a sword, an axe, a mace, a greatsword, a battleaxe and a warhammer, and then they just have slightly different properties and looks. So friggin boring. And you can't even make a Nordic Greatsword style of sword in, say, Ebony. If at least they had made all the weapons and armor smithable in your choice of material there would've been something to break the redundancy, but nope...

I was thinking the same, that would be really cool to add. Except it wouldn't make sense/look right for some weapons. But there are still like 2x as many weapons/armor as there were in Oblivion so you shouldn't be such a sourpuss

In one book it was told that what is nowadays called dwemer armor is actually just pieces of their machines such as centurions. Found pieces of the machines are combined to make "mix-and-match armor".

Yer, I agree. dwarven armor and any form armor that the dwemer wore themselves are two completely separate things. Looking at the Dwemer ghosts in Morrowind and also concept art, I don't think the Dwemer wore much armor. Being scientists it makes more sense as they were more of an egg head people like the magic users in their robes. Having sentry bots etc, they didn't need to rely on armor as they themselves didn't have to do the fighting. They had their body guards. My guess is the dwemer society relied on learning science and mechanics as opposed to a having to learn melee combat from an early age. They read books over building up enough muscle and fitness to wear armor and swing a heavy weapon.

True, but shouldn't they try to look up some info before they ask/say anything? You know, just make sure you know what you're talking about.
why is orcish better than dwarven .-.
i really feel it should be

Iron Steel Orcish Dwarven Ebony Daedric
Why? The orcs are known as great craftsmen in TES, the dwarves were good at making armor no doubt about that, but why should they be better than orcs? The orcs have had longer time to perfect their smithing, and if I'm not mistaking Steel plate is also better than dwarven.

It doesn't really matter in the end, since you can even reach the armour cap with Steel armour and only one point in the Juggernaut perk. I think that Dwarven armour is the coolest looking armour in the game, besides Ebony. Makes me feel like I'm some sort of massive tank.

I personally like the dwarven armor in Skyrim better than in Morrowind and Oblivion. I can't see how there could be complaints about bad looking armor... Obviously if it isnt steel, iron or steel plate, armor is going to look out of the ordinary. If dwarven armor looks 'bad', then what is so bad about it?

i read somewhere on the wikia that the dwarf armor isnt made by the dwarfs, rather made by dwarf steel salvaged by travellers or something

They're actuall a subrace of Elves, but *may* have equalled a male Bosmer/Woodelf in height, if they were not the same size as the other races.. They attempted to use the heart of Lorkhan/Shor... and it ended with every single one of them on Tamriel dissapearing.

I heard they were called dwarven or dwarf because of the giants surrounding. in the fact atleast. skyrim. but i can be wrong

This does tend to be a longitme feature of the Elder Scrolls, dating back to at least 2002 when Morrowind came out, at least for relative placement of Dwarven Armor.

Here's a handy list for ya!

Morrowind:
Iron
Steel
Imperial Steel Armor (?)
Dwarven
Ebony
Daedric

Oblivion:
Iron
Steel
Dwarven
Orcish
Ebony
Daedric

Skyrim
Iron
Steel
Dwarven
Orcish/Cordonium-infused Steel Plate
Ebony
Dragonbone
Daedric.

As for the above poster- remember Orcs are a warrior culture. The Dwarves were more technomancy. As the Dwarves dissapeared in the first Era, while the Orcs have had three Eras to improve their armor-making techniques... Armor just isn't material, but method of making as well. Nobody really makes new Dwarven Armor (crafting system aside, it was historically looted, never made) so no innovations into the treatment of the dwarven metal can be made. However, it should be mentioned that Dwarven Armor was probably bleeding-edge technology back in the first era... and even into the 4th Era, it's still better than most iron or steel armor. So it's still quality stuff

In fact, the only reason Steel Plate is better is probably because it has extra cordonium added to it, stregthening the metal.

Why are Dwarfs extinct? fighting an angry midget wielding an oversized axe would provide me with hours of fun plus we could have Dwarf tossing in taverns.
They transmuted their souls into the golden skin of a Big Stompy Robot in a botched attempt at gestalt godhood.

God, I love typing that sentence; it's such a fun sentence. And completely true, at that.

The light armors at most look terrible. The city guard armor (such as whiterun guards), leather & thieves armors are probably the best.

I like the city guard armor.... but I can't bring myself to wear it... as for some reason they all look like fat suits... even the smallest characters in Skyrim develop a mysterious gut when donning the guard armor.

I know what you mean, no matter how skinny the person wearing it they all seem to get a little ''beer belly''.
